My sneaking out to go skating became a routine. I would do it as much as possible whenever my dad and Latoya went out or worked late. My sister always helped make sure I had an alibi whenever I left and came back. Thank god she was around, this wouldn't go too well without her. Today I made sure Ivey told dad that I was at the store if he came home while I was gone.  Now I just had to make sure I came home with groceries in my hand.  I came home fairly earlier than usual, when I walked in I heard arguing upstairs.  I put the groceries on the counter and I slowly walked upstairs careful not to make a sound.  My father and Latoya were arguing about something but I was still too far away to hear.  Once I was up the stairs I walked past my sisters bedroom door. It was open, I looked in and she was huddled in the corner, her shoulders shaking.  I rushed in, "Ivey?"
She looked up at me eyes red, and her face tear stained. "They..a-are t-t-talking about m-mom."
I spun around and crept to the door listening.  They're bedroom is at the far end of the hall so it was still hard to hear but I could make out pieces of it. "No...they will never know..bad...too long....nothing...blame me...her death....too much pain.." My fathers voice sounded broken like he was crying.
Latoya sounded really angry and agitated, "They need to...killed her....about me....their broken.....an' clueless...don't do this...tell...please!"
I had crept ride outside and I finally heard my father clearly. "I can't Latoya they already blame me. It's better if their left in the dark."
"No. That's not your decision..."
"It's not yours either!" My father interrupted.
"They are in a lot of pain right now and they deserve to know what actually happened," Latoya softened her voice.
"No, if I do they'll hurt more. They won't find out and that's final. Leave it alone Latoya!"
I heard my fathers footsteps stomping toward the door. I ran to my sisters room and closed the door just as my father opened his bedroom door. I saw a glimpse of his face just as I closed the door. He had looked angry and his face was a shade of red. I turned around and faced my sister. She was in the same place and position but she was facing me. Her cheeks were still tear stained, but she had stopped crying. She looked up at me when I approached her. "What happened? What'd they say?" Her bottom lip quivered.
"We have a lot to talk about."

"What the hell?" My sister said after I told her everything I heard. "Was mom killed?"
"I have no idea, I don't understand half of what I heard.  I guess nothing's like I thought it was."
"Yea... What are we gonna do?  Dad won't tell us anything.  Plus we can't ask him otherwise he'll know we were listening."
"I know that Ivey, maybe Latoya will tell us eventually.  She definitely wanted us to know what happened."
My sister nodded slightly and looked down at the ground.  "Moms death was nothing like we thought it was." I could barely hear her.
"We don't know that for sure.  There is always a reasonable explanation for this."
She snorted, "Righhht."
I rolled my eyes and sat down on the floor next to her.  "I hate this, not knowin' anything at all."
"Me too," my sister rested her chin on her knees.
"How long does dad work tomorrow?"
"Uh 8 to 7 I think. Why"
I cringed, "I'll miss skating, but this is important."
"What are you talking about?"
I looked at Ivey with determination in my eyes.  "I'm going to do some snooping in dads room, and your gonna help."
