^Of Monsters and Men^
A/N the reason the chapters are not very long is because this all takes place in one night, so I have to stretch it out to make more chapters. I hope you enjoy:)

We meet up with Mike, and Sam is beside him, looking relieved to have found us.
"Is everyone okay?" Those are the first words out of Josh's mouth.
Mike is silent for a minute.
"Matt, we're pretty sure, and... And Emily is gone," He says sullenly.
"Shit," Josh breathes. He's composed himself at least, not in his mental breakdown anymore.
Josh's grip on my hand tightens, but I barely notice it. Emily is dead.
"Let's get out of here," Sam says, snapping everyone out of our sadness. She has always done that- exchanging our fears and sadness for determination. That's why I've always wanted to be around her.
We begin walking through the dark corridors of the mine, Josh's hand still wrapped around mine. It's comforting. Knowing that things might end up okay is all I'm running on at the moment.
But fear is still impaling my stomach, creating a harsh feeling of having to puke.
Tonight I could die. Josh could die. Sam could die- anyone could. Jessica, Emily and Matt are already dead. Who else has to die until dawn?
We arrive at a pool of water in the cave, and I shiver just looking at it.
"Let's go," Mike says.
Sam and Mike drop down first- they probably had to walk through these on the way here.
Josh and I are next, and we fall into the water carefully, making sure not to bump my arm on anything. The cold, dark sea wraps it's arms around me, almost seeming to pull me down into it. It's getting hard to see in here.
I've been known as the girl who's always been cold, but this water is freezing my bones into ice.
It's peaceful for the few steps I take in the water, maybe a false sense of security. Maybe we actually are going to get out of here alive, we just have to movie quickly.
It all happens so fast. From walking into the water, to a big splash coming from the other side. One of the ugly creatures jumps out of the freezing waves and grabs Josh, our hands disconnecting. It begins to move, away from me, dragging Josh with it. The tattoo flashes in my vision for a split second, a butterfly. Hannah. It's Hannah's tattoo. I'm all out of breathe, with so many words left unsaid to her, and they all pool into my head. No, this is all too much. Sam and Mike have moved out of the way, letting it take him. Letting it happen. I can't move for a second before I spring into action, chasing and chasing, my arm in an intolerable throb.
"Josh!"
I can't lose him again.
