I woke up in the middle of the night. Artem had let me sleep in his bed since Kara had the guest bedroom. He slept on the couch out of respect for both me and Kara, although I wouldn't have minded him sleeping next to me, as Maks had the previous night. It's what I longed for. I want to feel him protect me.

I kept thinking about Maks and since it was only 2am I figured he would be up. I contemplated calling him but then felt like it would be a bother, he and Peta do not need anymore speed bumps in their relationship because of me.

I decided I should call Peta because we haven't talked much lately and I don't want her to be mad at me.

"Hello?" She answered right away.

"Hey, I know it's late, I just wanted to talk to you, I miss our late night talks."

"Your fine, Emma. We actually just got home from the club, we missed you tonight. Thanks for making sure Maks was home safe and sound for me." She laughed.

"I missed you guys too, not Maks though, I'm kinda tired of him."

"I'm telling him you said that!" She laughed.

"What?" I heard Maks in the background.

"Could I stay with you guys tomorrow." I asked her.

"Oh no! I thought there was hope this time."

"There is, oh god, I promise you Artem and I are in a good place, it's not about him. It's just that he and I are kind of stuck. His ex girlfriend is staying here until Friday and then she's leaving."

"On your birthday?" She said "ouch, I know you've been dying to be alone with Artem now that he's professed his love."

Maks tells her everything. I rolled my eyes. It's ok.

"You remembered my birthday?" I smiled.

"How could I forget, remember that exploding candle last year that almost poked Val's eye out."

I burst out laughing.

"Maybe we could all do something Friday night." I said

Peta had her hand over the phone muffling it. She must have been talking to Maks and didn't want me to hear.

"We should be able to." She finally said "I guess we have a lot of night rehearsals this week and next week so I hope that doesn't interfere."

"Yeah, hopefully." I said kinda disappointed.

"What do you want for your birthday?" She asked "besides a sexy shirtless Russian holding you in his arms."

I laughed harder this time. Then Artem walked in the room.

"Your being awfully loud." He said "it's 2am who are you talking to." He gave me a look.

"It's Peta." I said and he grabbed the phone.

"Hey Peta." He said laying on the bed next to me.

"Did she really say that about me." He smirked.

Oh no. What kind of lie did she tell him?

"Peta says goodbye." He hung up my phone and set it on the bedside table.

Artem proceeded to take off his shirt and get in bed beside me.

"What are you doing?" I giggled.

"That couch was not comfy, I would much rather be in my own bed. With my girl."

I smiled and leaned in for him to kiss me. At first his lips brushed against mine he was trying to tease me. Then he pulled me in closer and wrapped his arms around me and kissed me more romantically than we have ever kissed before.

I smiled.

"I can't believe I'm dating my best friend." I said.

"I'm so happy." He said "I have never been happier in my life than this moment right here. Now shhh. Go to sleep." He said still with his arms wrapped around me tightly.

I guess dreams do come true.
