You woke up the next day and put the pistol in its holster, getting up and putting your bag on your back you left the room and looked around, most people were either talking or asleep, walking to a window you looked out of it, reaching into your pocket you pulled your radio out and tuned it on "Carl, Rick, anyone there?" You spoke into the radio, waiting a few minutes you got a reply "(f/n), we're going to be going to a place called Alexandria, it's safe and fortified from what we've heard" Rick spoke and you thought for a bit "you going to trust the people? Like what you said, fight the dead, fear the living" "we won't trust them, they'll have to earn it" "I have a map, I can mark it" "they aren't giving us the proper location, we'll leave you signs just stick to the road when you leave" "okay, same as Terminus" "yes, we're moving out now so I'll get Carl to talk to you when we arrive, if we can" "okay, good luck" you smiled as you turned the radio off, hooking it to your belt, walking downstairs you saw a few people around your age sat on a few seats, walking over you looked at them, a few went to your school and the others were new faces "oh my god, (f/n), you're still alive" "yeah, so are you" "you sound disappointed" "I swore I saw you run towards a group of walkers" "I did then I ran away.." "Smart" "how did you manage to survive?" "I'm with a group, we trust each other well and will help others" "that's cool, have you heard about Terminus? We were heading there" "don't go, that place was hell" "you've been" "trust me, for your own good don't go to Terminus, they'll take your weapons and put you in train carts" "seriously?" "Yes! Then they would drain your bodies of your blood and cut your body up.. I think they are your body" "dude.. You're a girl you shouldn't say that shit.." "Shut up, it's a fact" "but it's gross" "woman up" you sighed as you walked away, not wanting to be around him and his stupidity "maybe coming here was a mistake.." You mumbled as you leaned on a wall and gazed at the walkie talkie "(f/n) *static*" you hooked it off your belt and pushed the button down "hello?" "(f/n), we're *static*" you listened closely and walked up the stairs to the roof "what's going on?" "We were attacked *static* we're going to head to a safer place *more static* hurry back" "okay, I'll leave now" you replied and put the walkie talkie back on your belt and rushed downstairs, bumping into your father "where you going in a rush?" "My groups in trouble, I need to go" "do you need help getting there?" "Can you lend me a car?" "I'll drop you there" he said, walking out to the back with you and stood by a cop car "open the gate" he said, passing you the key to the many padlocks, walking over and unlocking the padlocks and removing them and the chains, you opened the gates and watched the cop car drive out, locking it back up then joined your father in the cop car, buckling your seat belt as he drove off, your dad turned his radio on "James, I'm trusting you the place won't fall apart" "uncle James?" You dad nodded and passed you the radio "hey (f/n), it sucks I never got to see you again in person, but hearing that you're still kicking is good enough for me" "same to you uncle James" you replied with a smile, he wasn't related to you by blood but he's been a close friend of your dads since they were younger so growing up with your family and his, it felt like a second family and calling him uncle become a habit "so what's your group like?" "It's full of good people that will go out of their way to protect the group" "your father told me the Sheriff that got shot from the next town over is leading the group" "he is" "what about his family" "he has a son my age and a baby daughter, his wife passed recently" "how did he handle her passing" ".... Not well" "keep an eye on him if he shows signs of crazy" "he's not crazy" "yet.. But why're you heading back so early?" You pushed the button down as you looked out the window "they're moving places, we tend to not stay in a place too long if it's not well fortified like the prison a couple miles from here" "you guys managed to clear that place out?" "It wasn't easy" "I bet, what about the prisoners?" "There were some still there, some joined us but with them being locked up for so long they were inexperienced" "my radio is going to die (F/N), I'll radio your dad later" "okay, goodbye for now uncle James" you smiled as you passed your dad the radio back "the channel we use is 7" your father said, passing you the spare from the glove compartment and placing a sticker on it then placing it in your bag, leaning back you closed your eyes
