Jason's pov
I hear snickering. Huh? I open my eyes and am completely shocked to see the girls, standing in the doorway! "Girls, what are y'all doing up so early?" I cry, covering Rachel. "We want breakfast and daddy went home!" Sierra says. I sigh and lay back down. "I'll be down in minute. Just close the door!" I gripe, covering my eyes. They laugh and run away, closing the door. Oh man, what am I gonna do with those crazy kids?! Rachel is still asleep. I pull on some clothes and go downstairs. They're sitting at the table. I shake my head and go to the fridge. "What do y'all want?" They smile and look at each other. Hm.... "French toast! French toast!" They chant. I roll my eyes and get the ingredients out. The kids love my famous french toast. I make it and they go nuts. They're whispering to each other at the table. "What are you two doing?" I ask, turning around. Oh crap, they're wearing those capes again. That can only mean one thing. Wonder twins. I wish they never watched that show. I sigh as they do the same thing as they did at the ice cream shop. "No wonder twins girls. Just tell me what ya want!" "Aw but dad wonder twins is so much funner!" Miranda whines. I sigh and flip the French toast. I'm the only one who plays along. And this is no exception.
Luke's pov
I come over to Jason's house to pick up Sierra. They're doing the wonder twins thing again and as usual he's playing along. I roll my eyes and lean against the wall, my arms crossed. He turns around and drops the spatula in surprise, his cheeks getting red. "Jeez Luke ya scared the shit outta me." He says, picking it up. I laugh. He sets plates in front of the girls. "You're free to go, slave." Sierra says, laughing. He tips his hat and turns around, rolling his eyes as he walks out of the kitchen with me. "That wonder twins thing is the funniest thing ever." I say. "Maybe for you but it drives me nuts." He mutters, sitting on the couch. "Why do you keep doing it then?" He smiles. "I love seeing that smile on her face." I sit beside him. "Jason don't ever doubt that you're a good father. You're a great father." I say, patting his shoulder. "Thanks Luke. It means a lot. I love being a father to that little girl. I am so glad she's with me." "Me too. Sierra is such a sweet fun loving little princess." Just then Rachel comes downstairs. "Hey babe." She says, sitting beside Jason. "Hey hun." He says, wrapping an arm around her. "Where'd Lisa go?" She asks. "Actually baby they both left last night if ya catch my drift." Jason jokes. I shoot a glare his way. He laughs. "You left and the girls walked in on us this morning." He says, pointing at me. I try to stifle a laugh but it slips out. Sierra walks out of the kitchen. "Daddy!" She squeals running out and climbing into my lap. She hugs me and Miranda walks out. "Hey uncle Luke!" She gasps, waving.
Jason's pov
"Daddy?" "What's up sweetheart?" I ask, looking over. She looks upset about something. "What's wrong?" She points to the other room so we go in there. "What's wrong hun?" "My locket broke." "Oh it's okay, we'll fix it. It shouldn't be too hard." She hands it to me and it's broken in half and it's heart shaped so it's like a broken heart. Ugh, it makes me think of Jenny again. I sigh.
~flashback~
It was raining. I got up after the show prepared to leave when I remember the black haired girl from last night. Jenny. I nicknamed her my little rockstar. But I couldn't stay. I had to get back on the road. She was still asleep. I grab my bag and run out to my bus and drive away.
~flashback over~
I shake the memory that gives me shivers. I wonder if I stayed, would she still be alive? And would my little girl not be wearing a damn hearing aid at the age of 7? I see the picture in it. Her long flowing black hair, that soft sweet smile. I miss her. I wish she wasn't dead. But there's nothing I can do. I focus on fixing the locket when she hugs me. "Daddy, you're crying." She whispers. My eyes go wide in surprise. I didn't even realize. I wipe my eyes and pull her into my lap. "I love you baby girl." "I love you too daddy. What do you remember about mama?" I smile and hug her tight. "I remember she had the prettiest long hair I've ever seen. She had a laugh that could light up any room or cheer anyone up." "I miss her." She whispers. "I miss her too baby, I miss her too."
Luke's pov
I take Sierra home and kiss Lisa on the cheek. I go into Sierra's room. "Hey sweetheart I had a big question to ask." I say, sitting on her bed. She's flipping through some old magazine. "What is it daddy?" "I want to ask Lisa to marry me." I say, quietly. "B-But what about mama?" I hug her. "It won't replace your mom." She's still reluctant. "She's not gonna be your new mommy. She's just gonna be daddy's new wife. I promise." "Okay, can I ask her for you?" I smile. "Sure hun, of course you can." I hug her then call Jason to tell him. "Hey man, do you think you can come over today?" I ask. "I'm sorry I'd love to but Miranda's having one of her off days again and I think we should just stick close to home." "What's wrong with her?" "She misses her mom." "Oh okay, tell her uncle Luke says hey." He chuckles. "I will man, thanks." I hang up and turn back to Sierra. "Ok we got a little change of plans. We're going to Uncle Jason's. You get ready." She nods. I kiss her forehead and go to get ready. I'm so excited.
Jason's pov
Sierra and Luke come over just as I finished fixing the locket. I also put a picture of me in there so she'd always have us both. Lisa and Luke go to talk in the kitchen while Sierra and Miranda hang out. He walks out holding Lisa's hand. "Hey baby girl, come here please." He says to Sierra. I turn the TV off, wondering what he's doing. Sierra asks her to bend down which she does and she whispers something in Lisa's ear. Her eyes get wide. "Did I miss something here?" I ask, confused. "Yes Luke I love you!" She gasps, hugging him. "What's going on?" I gasp, standing up. "Hey Jason, you think you're tux still fits from high school prom?" He asks. My eyes go wide. "What are you talking about?!" I gape. "Me and Lisa are getting married!" He says, grabbing her around the waist and kissing her. Damn, I totally didn't see that coming! "Whoa! Congratulations man!" I gasp, recovering.
*later*
Luke walks out the front door with the biggest smile on his face. I was keeping an eye on the kids playing out front. "I just gotta thank you." He says. I'm confused. "Thank me for what?" I ask. "Convincing me to get rid of that controlling girl." He says. I smile. "Yeah it was good riddance when you told me you dumped her last year on the night train tour." I reply. He nods. "So you got a date?" "October 12. As long as my best man isn't doing something that day." He says, making me smile. I stand up. "Luke I would be honored to be your best man." I say, shaking his hand.
