Ash's p.o.v
I awoke, hearing a voice, and felt disorientated for a moment before all that happened came crashing down. I had ran away: I had met angels: I had trusted them.
Oh, remember Avery? The beautiful one? That's her voice. She's telling someone about us.
Us? Yeah, you're just my mind. No.
Plot twist: or am I?
Yes, yes you are. And wait, she is telling ou- my past. I don't mind but still...
You don't mind cause you like her.
Do not!
You so do.
Be quiet.
Calm down. I'm you too so I like her as well.
I don't like her in the first place.
Mmm hmmm.
I was woken from my thoughts by a voice saying 'Avy? Does he know about... You?'
'No. I know I can trust him, but well... It's my story, I don't like telling it out. And it makes me sound depressed. But I guess he told me his past...' The dreamy ang- nope, Avery trailed off.
Wait, him, me? She trusts me?
Ah young love.
Put a sock in it.
I decided to make my consciousness known. Sitting up, I rubbed the sleep out of my eyes and blinked blearily at the two angels who sat across the cave from me.
'Hi! I understand you're the human who's made my friends put up wards around the forest and mountain and drag me out of tutoring for. Nice to meet you, I'm Rachael.'
'Rachael, I was joking when I said to say that.' Avery rolled her eyes.
'I know.' Said Rachael, grinning.
'I'm Ash' I say uncertainly. I couldn't decipher Rachael. She seemed nice, but... still.
'Ash, this is Rachael. She's a childhood friend of mine. Rachael, this is Ash. We found him here earlier.' Avery explained.
I inspected Rachael, somewhat nervously. Her wings were many shades of purple, parrot-like, and her soft brown hair waterfalled between them.
I wonder just how long they've known each other...
Wait, why do I care?
You can ask Rachael about Avery. It could work, it could just work.
Oh yeah, now I remember: I don't care.
'I'mma go outside and check the wards are still strong.' Rachael stated.
'K.' Nodding, Avery returned her gaze thoughtfully to the entrance.
'L! Hehe.' Rachael laughed as she exited the cave we were seated in.
'L? Wards? Erm, can you explain, I think you lost me there. Scrap that, you lost me awhile ago.'
Lost you? You'd need more than just a map to know the way right now. Not like you're any good with directions, you nearly got lost on the way here. Yes, you got lost on the way to a huge mountain, that could be clearly seen, and was almost impossible to not see. Congratulations, you've won least orientated person of the century award on the spot.
Avery smiled. 'L is kinda an inside joke between me and Rachael. It's the letter after K in the alphabet, so if one of us says K, the other would say L. Wards are a means of magical protection, meant to keep something out or inside of an area of land. There were inactive wards around Cave Falls anyway, put there in case angels ever needed a safe spot. We usually set the wards to keep out humans on a night, so we didn't have any surprise... surprises. This time we set the wards for a long term, F.o.A block. Basically, me, the rest of the flock and you are the only people who can pass out of this area... Or get into it.' Avery explained to me.
