Chrissy Moone

Prolouge

Chrissy Moone found out she had cancer when she was four years old. Her mother and her father had divorced two years ago, as her mum was a traveller, and her father only found out just before the divorce. He called her quite a lot of things, not very nice things, as he was a city man, and never encountered a traveller. Chrissy's mum wanted to take Chrissy with her, but her father refused and said that her daughter will never see her mum again. Her father was very angry after that, and would make Chrissy do a lot of work around the house. He got a lot of girlfriends, and they all dumped him, after finding out he was dating them all at the same time. After they found out Chrissy has cancer, her dad got even more angry at the world.

He abused Chrissy. She was safe sometimes, being in the hospital, but when she came back, he would abuse her for making him pay for a lot of medication and the hospital, and they were running very low on money.

Chrissy started school with bruises and cuts every where, and she was forced to lie that she was very clumsy and she lived on a farm. She did live on a farm, actually. Her father would force her to stand at the back of a very dangerous horse so she would get kicked. She had to wait 11 years until she was capable of running away. He wouldn't feed her for days, punching her if she wouldn't do all the work. Every visit to the hospital they were very nervous of her father, but they had no proof that he abused her.

Chrissy began to get so thin you could see her ribs, red and lilac bruises all over her, whip slashes on her back, hoof marks all over her arms. Even on sunny days, her father would not let her wear short sleeves and shorts.

Every birthday, her father would give her how many years she was, that amount of whips. He would always say "This is for all the years I wasted my money on you're stupid cancer" On her 15th birthday, she woke up at dawn, and ran away to her aunty. She told her everything. The police tried to find Chrissy's father, but, no such luck. He's somewhere, and he haunted Chrissy's dreams every night. She and her aunty moved to Ohio to get as far as they could from her father.
