He stares back at me with his round amber eyes. He makes an odd noise, kind of like a high pitch dog barking. My fingers are trembling.
In my mind I'm thinking of where I could run to, trying to not get distracted by the now owl hooting fox.
There's not many options. I could do one thing that I read in the library about wild animals. Some animals, will stand down and retreat if you make yourself big and growl back, make it look like you own the forest. Other animals, try to fight you.Only one way to find out.
I pace towards him, making myself big, growling slightly. He gives me a slightly bored look, then turns around. He runs back into the trees, disappearing among the leaves. I let out a huge sigh. I check my watch. 4:00. I run towards the well, picking up my bucket and filling it high with water. I double check that the pictures are all safe, then once I've recovered I get away from the forest as fast as I can. Being fast is very hard when you've got a bucket full of water.
I've got about half an hour to show these pictures to the police. I quickly get back to Adrian's house and dump the bucket on the table, then run back out. I don't start making dinner. It won't matter, anyway. The police will have the picture.
I sprinted towards the police, hair flying behind me, wind behind me. I run along the beach, the wind bringing the sand up to my face. I shake my face, causing the sand to sprinkle off my face and instead settle on my top.
I reach the big building and walk through the automatic doors. There's empty cells, three on each wall. I reach the desk where a ginger haired police man is sitting, getting passports sorted for some people.
"Excuse me?" I say when its my turn "I need to talk to a police officer about something urgent. Privately, though"He grunts and another officer comes up, this one female, blond strands falling out of her bun.
"Hey sweetie. We'll talk about this urgent matter in here, OK?" She says, not completely taking me seriously. I nod, then follow her into a room painted in a dull grey.
I rummage through my handbag, getting the photos. I lay them out on the table, then lift up my sleeves to reveal bruised and cut arms.
She examines the photo carefully, then my arms and neck. I pull my top sideways slightly to show her my bruised shoulder. She takes notes, putting the pictures in an evidence bag."Is your father Adrian Porter?" I nod "We've had a case with him before, which he lied his way out of. This is serious, Chrissy. Very serious. If you don't mind, I'll have to take pictures of all of your injuries, then record you explaining everything."
I nod. She first photographs my arms, then legs, then neck, shoulder, and belly. She gets out the recorder, and I begin to tell. Half way through I have to halt to stop myself from shaking. I wipe my eyes, then continue.
Half an hour later, she has everything down.
"We'll get Officer Neill to bring you home. He'll then have a talk with your dad. It'll be OK, Chrissy. "Sorry that it's quite short guys! The next chapter is Chrissy's mum chapter, and then... Something. So the end of this chapter will never be told. Might as well give a quick run through. Officer talks to Adrian, arrests, Adrian gonna go to trial in a week, Chrissy put in foster home. Basically the gist of it. You can imagine if you want how the officer said it to Adrian, and stuff like that.
Hope you enjoyed, toodles!
