"JACK NO " Katie yelled through her laughs and heaving breaths due to the fact that Jack and I were attacking her sides with our fingers. "HANNAH STOP"
We all laughed and of course I decided to sneak away. I sat on the couch while Jack straddled Katie, nonstop tickling her. His smile wrapped across his cheeks and Katie's breathe was struggling to catch up due to her laughter. I grabbed my phone and found the perfect angle and took a picture of the two, the photographer in me taking over. It was a bad habit I'd picked up that I would take cute pictures of my best friend and her boyfriend -who was indeed my brother.
This entire thing started when Jack and Katie made a bet. "If you beat me in this game I get a kiss." Katie had said.
"And if I beat you I get to tickle you" Jack had retaliated. Jack cheated by kissing her cheek in the middle of her being under fire. And so Jack won.
I'm sure we were all relieved when Jack finally gave in. I jumped up from the couch and slid across the sodden floors to the refrigerator. I grabbed us each a drink and went back to my seat while Jack and Katie started another round of their game. Suddenly a knock was heard on the door.
We all looked at each other. "TAKE OVER HANNAH" Jack yelled, throwing his controller at me and sprinting for the door. Katie looked over at me and smirked. I hated that I blushed immediately. I reached to my side and grabbed a pillow which I threw at her.
She squealed and hit it away. "Screw you." She mumbled.
And then we heard talking. Carson was here. He was here and I could not wait for him to be living at my house for this entire summer and next year. Then it's off to college for me and Katie.
Curiously I ask Katie "Have you started your big essay thing for your application to Notre Dane?"
She looks away from the screen for a split second.
"Yeah, have you?" She focuses back on the game. Jack taught her how to play and now she's nearly better than him.
I shake my head. "No. What are you writing yours about?" I ask. She's about to answer when a someone enters the room and starts yelling.
"THE PARTY CAN START I AM HERE." The one and only Carson Moore yells. And I can't keep my eyes off of him. His perfect brown hair, his eyes, his freckles, his smile. I tear my eyes away.
That is not like you Hannah. I mentally scold myself.
"Hey Carson." Katie smiles a hello to him. Somehow she had become so comfortable around Carson in the few times they'd been together.
"What's up Katie?" Carson gave her a friendly awkward side hug. She then placed her tiny frame at Jack's side. Jack placed an arm around her as if to claim her.
"Nothing much." She replied.
Carson then turned to me. "Hannah!" He exclaimed and hugged me. I hugged back, gently. "How's it going?"
"Great, ready for this summer?" I straightened out my shirt which had gotten messed up in the process of hugging him.
"Absolutely." He smiled his perfect charming smile.
"Shall we start our awesome next year with video games?" Jack handed Carson a controller.
"We shall!" We all agreed.
The next few hours were filled with bets and snacks and rages and our own tiny tournament. Finally, my parents arrived home with dinner.
Katie and I lept to our feet at the sound of the 'we're home!' and raced to our spots at the kitchen table. We were soon joined by Carson and Jack. Carson was welcomed into our home and told to make himself comfortable -as if he hadn't been here a thousand times before.
