As the car finally pulled to a resting place in the parking lot of Pizza King, Carson removed his hand from my thigh. We all quickly jumped out. The spot where Carson was keeping his hand felt empty. Jack and Katie were already almost up to the door, while Carson and I were just now meeting in front of the car.

"We'll keep things subtle." Carson intertwined our hands and bent his head slightly to whisper in my ear. I nodded and quietly stuck to his side. I knew this team very well so I wasn't worried about anything truly. I had grown up knowing most of them through my brothers playing lacrosse with them. Growing up surrounded with sports in general caused me to know so many more people than if I had never done sports. As we walked in, I recognized nearly all of the team members and could name most of them on the spot. I caught the attention of a few of the other girlfriends that had tagged along with their successful player boyfriends. They smiled and waved at me, but I refused to smile back. Each and every one of those girls were awful. Katie was the only girl in this room that I could stand. That was up until I saw that our waitress was a girl.

Carson pulled out a chair for me to sit next to Katie so I sat and he joined me on my other side.

"You might want to take your claim before they cat fight over him." Katie leaned over and whispered. I then noticed that all of the girls were staring at Carson like a small child looks at a pony. I felt my blood boil and grabbed Carson's hand that was resting on the table. He stopped laughing slowly and looked over at me. "What's got your panties in a wad?" He joked.

"Just making sure the sluts know that you're off limits." I wasn't sure if it was the right thing to say considering we had never made anything official. But, solemnly, he nodded as if agreeing with me. So, we ordered our food and the hours of story telling and eating began.

As people began to leave, Katie and I were forced to join in telling groups of people goodbye one by one. Every time we said goodbye to a girl whose shorts were hardly even able to be called clothing our eyes rolled out of our sockets. Jack and Carson made sure to give these girls small side hugs. You could see the disgust on Carson's face each time. It kind of pleased me. When our group was down to dessert time we were a much smaller group that consisted of four boy from the team, Carson, Jack, Katie, and two girls whose shirts showed so much cleavage you would think they were strippers.

As the boys spoke with each other one of the girls leaned across the table to me. I turned my attention towards her and held back a cringe at her breasts hanging right in my face. "How long have you and Carson been dating?" I swallowed hard to keep from spitting my drink. Carson perked up like a dog at the mention of his name but didn't look. He was a very sly person but I knew him well enough to know he was listening in.

The scariest part of being asked this was I had no clue how to answer. I didn't know the answer myself. I had never wanted to be asked a different question more. How long have you and Carson been acting this way? How much do you like him? Does he like you too? Anything but how long have you and Carson been dating.

So I answered in the only way I knew how. "We never made it official." I felt Carson's hand on my knee now as if he were comforting me. As if he were trying to assure me of something.

"Oh, well, he's really cute." She commented. This time I did roll my eyes. Yes, he was cute, but she had a boyfriend and there was no doubt in my mind Carson wouldn't want to help someone cheat. But, being as I knew I should keep my attitude in slight check, I smiled at her.

"Yeah, he is." I agreed with her. She leaned back and crossed her arms as if she were sizing me up. Carson suddenly turned to me and leaned to my ear.

"Way to keep your cool." His voice sounded surprised at my ability to not lash out on that girl. He could tell I hated her. "I can't wait to get out of here." He continued, mumbling this part. I was to say the least surprised. Normally, he loved to be with his lacrosse team and the way he was acting was out of the ordinary for him. I couldn't help but wonder what had him so uptight.
