I

"What are you doing here?" She stood in the open doorway with her eyes fixed on the boy that had broken her heart just the night before. The one that she had given her heart to, only to have it smashed into thousands upon thousands of pieces when he told her he didn't feel the same.

The air was cold, and the boy shivered. His green eyes were dark, and his full lips were pinker than usual due to the chill in the air. He took a step towards her.

"I lied to you," he confessed in a whisper barely loud enough to hear over the wind that disheveled his long, dark curls. "What are you talking about?" she asked him, still standing timid in the doorway. "Last night," he explained, and he wanted so badly to touch her, to caress her flushed cheeks, to hold her in a silent apology for ever hurting her heart. "when I told you I didn't love you. I lied."

Her breath quickened at his sudden and unexpected confession. Was this a trick? A dream? Was it too good to be true? She was torn between slamming the door and staying to hear what else he had to say.

"When you told me how you felt about me," he continued, taking another step closer. "I wanted to kiss you, but I was afraid, so I didn't."

And suddenly he was so so very close. So close that she could feel his breath, so close that she could hear his thundering heartbeat. "I should've kissed you," his lips brushed hers when he said this, his eyes fixed on hers. "I hate that I was such a coward. I should've just kissed you."

She didn't know how to respond, nor could she remember how to breathe, or what her name was, or where she was. All she knew was that this wasn't a trick, or a dream, or too good to be true. No. This was reality.

"Can I?" he whispered ever so softly, and he cupped her cheek in his hand, startling her. She didn't pull away, though she looked a bit confused. "Can I kiss you?"

Her eyes widened and her heart beat faster than it ever had before. She wanted to say yes, but she couldn't find her voice. It was all so overwhelming. The feel of his hand on her cheek and his breath on her lips and his closeness and the color of his eyes and the smell of him and him him him.

So he didn't wait for an answer any longer. He kissed her, and it was beyond anything that either of them had ever imagined. He kissed her and held her and whispered his undying love against her lips. Within moments he had her inside and her back was pressed against the wall and she sighed into his mouth and kissed him back with everything she had and it was wonderful and glorious and him him him. Finally him.
