I drove straight to Tucker's and noticed that he was already home. Good. Means there wasn't much to fill out at the hospital. I pulled into the drive and walked in. "Tuck?", I called out irritably. I was still peeved about Lukas.
"Well, hello to you Ms. Sunshine.", called out Tucker. I walked back into the kitchen, tossing his keys onto the counter and snatching mine up. He gave me a concerned look, "Everything alright?"
"Just peachy!", I said with fake chipper. I shook my head and kissed him on the cheek. "I'm going home. Love you bro.", I said softly. He nodded and I made my way out to my baby. I slid into the driver's seat when something the passenger's seat caught my eye. It was a gorgeous arrangment of flowers. I gingerly picked up the white card settled among the beautiful scents:
"7 o'clock. Tonight. Vincent's. Reservations under Felder. Meet me. --Anon."
I smiled softly and held the card to my chest. Someone wants to have dinner..with me? The thought of it made my head bubbly and light. I drove home, keeping a watchful eye out for anymore more Volkswagons. I made it home safe and sound, but when I glanced at the clock, I noticed it was already six o'clock. I was going to be late! I rushed inside, careful not to drop my flowers. I ran upstairs and set them down gently on my dresser. I tore into my closet, grabbing my little black dress. I slipped it on and threw on a pair of red high heels. I smiled in the mirror and frowned. Something was missing. I hurriedly curled the ends of my hair and dabbed on some red lipstick.
I returned smiling to the mirror and realized something was still missing! I rummaged threw my jewlery box and withdrew a long chained, blood red necklace with a small ship's wheel charm on it. I slipped it on and nodded. Perfect. I made my way downstairs and pulled a black, clutch purse from the front closet. I tucked in my wallet and my phone, heading out the door. I slipped into my car and headed off to Vincent's. It was the new Chinese place in town and I simply adored Chinese! I pulled into Vincent's parking lot and strolled in. I smiled at the host, "Reservation for two. Under Felder."
He smiled, "My name is Kevin. I will be your server tonight. Let me take you to your table!" It sounded so plastic, as if it was a memorized phrase. There were dark circles around his eyes like he hadn't had sleep in ages. He led me to my table, which was in the middle of everyone. I made a face. I prefered tables off to the side. I didn't much like being the center of attention.
"Thank you, Kevin.", I said smiling. I ordered a drink and waited for my mystery date to arrive. Kevin sat my drink down in front of me and smiled at me. We made small talk and as he walked away to help another table, I watched Lukas approach my table.
He gestured to the chair, "Is that seat taken?"
I glared, "Yes. Yes it is. I'm waiting for an adoring, handsome, flower sending, anonymous boy to show up. So if you'd like to book it.." I motioned towards the front door.
"Hev.. I'm the flower sending, anonymous boy.", Lukas said softly. I looked deep into his eyes and saw that he was sincere. I sighed and laid my face in my hands.
He took a seat and gently took my hands into his. I looked up, "Why?"
"Heaven. Jos-", he began to say.
"Welcome to Vincent's!", cheered Kevin loudly as he approached our table. Thank you.. I mouthed to him silently. He smiled, "Would you like to order?"
Lukas nodded and beckoned Kevin closer, whispering in his ear. Kevin wrote as Lukas spoke. I strained my ears, trying to catch anything, but I couldn't hear a single thing that Lukas was whispering. I gave up as Kevin walked away and gave Lukas a dirty look. He smiled and shrugged, stroking my hands softly. "As I was saying.. Josie is my sister.", he blurted out as if he feared Kevin would come back and interupt again.
I stared at him, dumbfounded. Lukas had a sister? "Why didn't you ever tell me?", I asked. We used to tell each other everything... At least I thought we had..
"After our dad died, my mum and I had a big fight. I moved out and she asked me not to tell anyone that I was Josie's sister. That was when we moved here, all that time ago. I was never sure why my mum asked me to do such a thing, but I belive that it ws to protect Josie from all the questions and smart remarks.", he admitted.
"Oh..", I whispered quietly. That made much more sense.
Lukas continued, "Josie stayed the night at my house that night because she and this boy had had a big fight. My mum was always rather nosey, so I supposed that it was still the same to this day and that Josie didn't want to face the endless questions.. Please tell me that you forgive me, Heaven.. I'm sorry I never told you about Josie, but I just wanted to proctect her.."
I nodded, "I do.. I do forgive you."
Lukas smiled and kissed my hands, "Heaven..I love you..."
I stared at him with my jaw hanging wide open. Did he really just say that? He just said what I'd been dying to hear.. I smiled softly, "I love you, too, Lukas..". I felt a tap on my shoulder and I turn around, coming face to face with the same boy that had kissed me at the concert. He was about Lukas's height, with fiery red, shoulder length hair. His eyes were an ice blue, His smile was a sickening sight with his pointed teeth, bright and gleaming.
"Hey. You're that one girl.", he said winking.
I went wide eyed and stuttered, "Ye-yeah. That's.. That's m-me..".
"Don't be afraid, pet. I bet you still dream about it, eh?", he said winking yet again. I could smell the alcohol on his breath and it made me want to barf.
I heard a chair scrape across the ground and turned back around to see Lukas standing up, "I think you need to leave."
The boy gave Lukas a one over, "Eh. I think I'll stay. I was having a conversation with my lovely, new pet."
Lukas took a step towards the boy, "I said, I think you need to leave."
"Make me.", the boy said through gritted teeth. Luke jumped at the boy, punchin him solidly in the gut. It didn't phase the boy at all. He threw a punch at Luka's face who just barely managed to get out of the way. It turned into a full scale fight as I started to yell Luka's name, begging him to quit and to just take me home so we could get away from all this.
I felt a hand on my shoulder and looked up to see Kevin, "Please Ms. Felder. Come with me. The cops are on their way, they'll break this up faster than we ever could. Do not worry." I nodded and followed Kevin, who took me to the front house where the rest of the costumers had gathered.
I whipped out my phone and dialed Tuck. He picked up after the third ring, "Sis? What's wrong?"
"I need you to come to Vincent's" I said as I started to cry. I told Tucker the whole story and he told me he'd be down as soon as he could.
