"Kaitlynn, you're late! And you have a baby with you?" My boss questioned.

"Please cut me a break for tonight, Sir. You know how my mother can be. Anyways, this job is all I have right now and I really need the money." I told my boss.

"I don't see a problem with it. There's a table in the back where she can sit and color. Anything she eats or drinks today is on me!" Alex smiled warmly.

I let out the breath I didn't realize I was holding and put Elli down.

"Thank you so much Mr. Lambert!" I said, feeling relived.

"It's Alex. I'm two years older than you so sir isn't necessary. What's this cutie's name?" Alex asked.

"This is my little sister, Elli. Let's go sit down so I can get to work princess." I said as I led Elli to the table Alex told me to sit her at.

I tended to all my tables without problems from Elli until about 9pm, that being her bed time.

"Kaitwynn! I'm cowd!" She called across the restaurant.

I walked to the back and covered her up with my jacket.

"Kaitlynn! Customer now!" Alex called and I hurried to the front.

My heart stopped when I saw him. Luke Hemmings. The school's bad boy. Holy crap.

"Like what you see, babe?" He questioned.

I rolled my eyes and led him to a table.

"Hi, my name is Kaitlynn and I'll be your server this evening. What can I get you?" I asked as politely as I could.

"I'll have a water for now seeing as I haven't even glanced at the menu." He said, sarcastically.

I rolled my eyes and walked back to get his water. Just as I sat it on his table, Elli walked up.

"Kaity, I'm sweepy. Can we go home now?" She asked, slurring her words because she was so tired.

I knew she was close to falling asleep because that's the only time she ever calls me Kaity.

"I know, Elli. I'm sorry. I have to finish my shift or I'll be broke. Come on baby girl." I told her as I turned back to Luke.

"If you could give me just a moment." I said as I picked my little sister up.

"Stay back here, okay?" I told her as I sat her on the bench. She laid down and closed her eyes immediately.

I made my way back to Luke's table to take his order.

"I'm sorry about that. What can I get you?" I smiled.

"Your number?" He replied smoothly.

"In your dreams Lucas." I scoffed. "Order food please."

"Its Luke." He breathed. "And I'll have a chocolate shake with French fries please."

"It'll be about 10 minutes." I replied and walked to another table.
