Chapter 0: Prologue

"Why?" a voice, loud and sorrowful, echoed on the battlefield. "Why didn't you listen?" He who couldn't do anything just sat there, mourning over his lost in front of many other lifeless bodies.

"Kura-"

"What!" he snapped. The nine-tailed fox glared with cold but teary eyes at his fellow bijuu. Matatabi, two-tailed cat, stared in silence in her flaming blue coat of fire. If she could, she would have neared him and gave soothing words to him.

"He did what he want, Kurama," she at last said. "You should respect his choice."

"I understand how you feel-" he once again cut her.

"What do you know? You're just a heartless feline that only cares about herself. Your jinchuuriki died in front of you but you thought nothing of it! And not just her, even the ones that came before her." The nibi's chakra flared. The only reason he didn't have any of her claw marks on him was because he made a good point.

"You think I don't care? Do you know how hurt it felt when I was sucked into that statue? I tried hard convincing Yugito to let me go, to at least give her a chance to survive." Son Goku, four-tailed monkey, came forward.

"I'll take it from here." She understood and let him do the talk. "I may don't feel the same as you do, but I too know the pain when a jinchuuriki was separated from me. Roushi and I had spent long years together. We formed a bond. Even if it was not as strong as yours, it was still something we both shared. Like you and Naruto."

"It's just not fair," Kurama said, barely heard. "He promised - I promised! We would travel the lands, helping people. We would train, something we never did before. And we would... we would see the sun rose over the high mountain I used to go. We promised." He sobbed at the last part. To others, seeing him vulnerable and fragile was not something they had seen him like before. Indeed, this side of him had never been showed and no one knew of it... except for he himself.

He rarely ever opened himself to others. If there were, it was a long time ago, a time he wished he could have back. Time... Yes. Time! His face brightened.

"What are you doing?" Shukaku, Matatabi, Isobu, and all the other bijuu watched in worry as he did some hand-signs. The moment he reached the fifth, they realized what jutsu he was performing.

"No! You can't do it!" Some warned and neared him. But it was too late for it was finished.

"I will not fail this time and I will protect you, no matter what." Risetto The bijuu watched in fear as everything began to distort. Light was absorbed into a vortex above them including them. The only ones left now was Matatabi, Gyuki the eight-tailed bull-ox, and Kurama. Right when Gyuki was pulled into the vortex, the kyuubi glowed golden light. He was disappearing, safe from the absorbing hole... but not before the fire cat jumped onto him, connecting them. The glow engulfed both of them. "Let go of me!" but she kept her grip on him.

Soon, everything was gone.

Naruto was always chased and beaten down by the villagers. And this night was no difference. Why!Why!What did I ever do to them? he thought with a drop of tear flowing down his cheek. Perhaps it is better that I die He then blackened out.

"I will keep my promise, Naruto..."a voice said inside the boy's mind. It's belonged to none other than the Kyuubi No Kitsune. This was it. He would fulfill his words. Making some other hand-signs, he shouted. "Onmyoton: Jikū Sakeme no Jutsu"(1).

Then something happened. The boy's body glowed brightly. A space rip opened in the middle of his chest and in a blink of an eye, he vanished. Even the Anbu nearby didn't know what had happened. The hokage was informed of the incident.

"Minato, Kushina, I'm sorry." the Sandaime Hokage thought sadly, watching the fourth's face from his office.

"Hokage-sama, the council wants to see you."an Anbu appeared.

"Tell them I'll be there in a minute." he replied.

"Hai Hokage-sama".

With a last glance at the boy's picture, he said, "Naruto, wherever you are, I hope that you are happy. Goodbye." he whispered and went to the council chamber.
