Chapter 6: A Mysterious Encounter

"Watch out!" Shouted Naruto as he pushed the chubby boy.

"Why would you do that?" Lawrence rubbed his head with his right hand.

The blonde just apologized and looked at the fallen object. His two friends also have their eyes on it. It was covered in dusts, crater surrounding it as a result of the fall.

As the dusts began to dissipate, the three of them began to wonder what it could be. All of their assumption however went down the drain as soon as the dusts lifted. It was a translucent orb with the color of red and was the size of a melon. Naruto gazed his eyes to the crater. It must be pretty high for that thing to make a hole that big.

"What is that thing?" Lawrence asked with a tone of curiosity. He had never seen anything like it before. The closest thing he could think of was a meteorite, but the orbs clearly didn't look like one.

"I don't know," Jimmy replied, turning to face the chubby boy. "What do you think?" he asked the spiky haired boy.

Naruto didn't say anything though and decided to grab the orb when a loud voice stopped him short. "Hold right there!" It belongs to a man. By the sound of it, he might be around twenty.

"Who are you?" Jimmy asked before the blonde could open his mouth. The mysterious man paused for a second. After a moment, he combed his aqua- colored hair.

"I'm Forest, a scientist," He said with a smile, the firm voice from before changed to a more calm one. "I am researching about the behavior of pokemon." Explained him.

Naruto however does not believe him. The man just came out of nowhere. One of the lessons that jiji had taught him, never trust a stranger and always be on guard.

"Name's Jimmy!" The black haired boy waved. "They're my friends, Light and Lawrence!" he gestured towards the two.

Naruto noticed that the man was staring at him, as if he was a thief.

"Why shouldn't I touch it?" The spiky-haired boy suddenly asked, his arms crossed. The man was becoming more and more suspicious.

The man took a deep breath before he opened his mouth. "The o-" However, he was cut by a shout.

"Light!" Naruto heard his mother's call from inside. "Could you and your friends help me for a minute?"

The boy gave a final stare at Forest before replying back. "Okay!" he said with his eyes still on the mysterious man.

Theresa looked at his son, a book in his hand. At first glance, it might seemed that he was reading. Ever since they returned from Lily's party, he had been drifting off into space and didn't speak any word; not that it was unusual for him. The thing that bothered her was his encounter with, as Lawrence said, a mysterious looking man. The boy also said about something else which she couldn't remember as she was doing something at the moment.

Naruto who was so focused into his thinking was brought back to the reality when his mother asked if he was alright. He nodded with a small smile, looking at his mother's concerned blue eyes. He knew that his mother was worried about him, but he decided to not tell her of his meeting with the man. There was something about the green haired guy, he just couldn't place it. Plus, he got a feeling that the man was lying when he tell them his name.

The nurse smiled. "If you need anything, just tell me." and soon, she was back on her job, cleaning the mess Jenny had made along with a chansey that was checking some pokeballs.
