In his dream Rockstar stood in a pine forest. The light from the golden sun warmed his pelt. In the waking world it was leaf-bare. Rockstar hadn't felt such warmth for moons.

But it was his daughter standing there that confused him. She looked plump like she'd been eating well. Her dark gray and silver fur was well groomed and her yellow eyes bright. Her belly was swollen.
Is she expecting kits?

"This is beautiful," Stormfire meowed. "If only I was home,"

Rockstar stared at her. "Are you on your way home yet? Do you have the cure,"

Stormfire jumped and looked over at him. She looked confused. "I thought I was dreaming,"

"You are," Rockstar told her. He was confused himself. "And so am I,"

Her eyes widened. "Is the clan okay?"

"Willowfur is dead and so is Redstar," Rockstar meowed flatly.

He could see the shock in Stormfire's eyes. There was horror and grief there too.

"I'm clan leader now," Rockstar sighed. "But it's so hard! I can't share my doubts with Sageheart or-"

"Yes your mate," Stormfire spat. "Wouldn't want to scare her or your kits? You want to be the best Father huh? Protect them from danger and lies? You go do that,"

Her words hurt Rockstar more then a Monster hitting him would.
Is this really how you feel about me?

He remembered Sagekit's question. "Then why aren't you looking after my sister?"
And Silverstripe's plea. "You have a life of your own now with your mate and your kits but once long ago I gave you a kit to care for. Keep your promise Rockwillow. Our daughter misses you,"

How could I have been so blind? You were desperate for a Mother but I took that away from you. Then when I finally gave you one you lost me your Father because I wanted to have a life with Sageheart. No wonder you hate me. I've given you nothing.
