His friend.

Dirk had known the man for years. Ever since John was just a child, he'd known him. They were friends. Maybe not the kind you play video games with or go out together, but the kind where you sit down and have a cup of coffee together. The kind where you talk about old times. About their kids.

Now he found himself standing a few feet away from his child, now the only remaining relative alive. John, without a home, without a father.

He couldn't imagine how much He had been hurting.

Compared to the grieving Bro felt, John must have died inside. He knew how much He loved the older man. He would remember the smile John would wear whenever his father got home from work. Always lit up like sunshine.

Now was the time John needed someone, and Dirk be damned if he didn't offer. He loved John like his own.
He'd give John a home of his own.

After a long while waiting, Bro took a few steps forward and stood behind John. Jade and Rose looked up at him, then got up and stepped away as if they knew.

He looked down at John and placed a hand on his shoulder, speaking in a very soft, low voice.
".....John. You can stay with us."
