My eyes shot open and I sat straight up. I looked around and saw that I was in my room. My neck began to ache, and last nights events came crashing into my mind. My hand went up to my neck and felt around. They came across two things that felt like holes. I quickly got out of my bed and ran into my bathroom.

I looked into the mirror and sure enough, there were two holes in my neck. They were red and swollen. My eyes filled with tears as I continued to rub the sore area.

Who was that guy?

I stare at my reflection for a few minutes, wondering what in the world was happening to me. After coming up with a few possible answers, some crazy, some a little realistic, I walk back into my room and got changed.

Since it was fall, it made it easier for me to cover the marks. I just threw on a scarf, and I was good. As I walk down the stairs, my mind starts to wander..

Who was he?

How did I get home?

Why is this happening?

None of my answers were making any sense..

When I got downstairs and into the kitchen I saw my mom cooking.

"Whatcha makin?" I asked, startling her.

"My goodness... Warn me next time before you scare me to death!" She said continuing to make the food.

" Sorry Momma! But what are you making? " I asked again, walking closer to her.

" Nothing for you. This is for a church gathering in a little bit. You slept in too late this morning and missed church, so you will be going later tonight. "

Great. Isn't that fantastic. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against church, I love church. It's the people, I don't love. Usually Ashton would help me through the pain of being surround by them, but after last night, I don't really want to talk to him today..

" Mmk Mom. " I said, walking to the living room. " Hey can I go to the park? " I asked her, not really wanting to stay around the house all day.

" Hmm.. Is Ashton gonna be there? "

" No.. just me, myself, and I. " She stopped cooking and turned to look at me.

"Alone? At the park. No way. "

I rolled my eyes, " C'mon Mom! I want to spend some alone with nature!! I promise nothing bad is gonna happen to me!! " I said, pulling the puppy dog face.

She sighed frustratedly. " No Layna. You can't always control what happens! " I continued to give the puppy dog face, " Whatever, call your dad and ask him... "

I smiled and pulled my phone out of my pocket. After a few seconds I had typed his number in and called him.

Dad: Hello?

Me: Hi Daddy!!!

Dad: Hi Layna.

Me: How is work?

Dad: Slow, annoying, a lot a hypochondriacs, the usual.

Me: Poor you...

Dad: Yeah. So what do ya need kiddo?

Me: Can I go to the park? Alone?

After a few seconds of silence he replied.

Dad: Yeah, just be safe..!

Me: Yaayy!! Thanks Daddy!!

Dad: Mhm, love you.

Me: Love you too

I hung up the phone and told Mom what he had said. After rubbing it in her face, I walked out the door.
