My POV
~
"Oh, calm down, don't act like a kid!" I mutter to myself, angry.
It's six in the evening, I should've been home an hour ago. But I'm still at work, trying to find those damn files. I have no idea where I left them. All day, I've been so freaking distracted. Why? Because, hm... Because of Ed.
Edward Nygma, oh, how much I like him! Such a smart and nice guy. He's not like the other ones working at G.C.P.D. Oh, no. Definitely. He acts like a gentleman, always tells you something nice or just asks you a riddle. Ed seems to love them!
And I'd love to know more about him.
Well, there's only one problem with that. Ed treats me like a friend. Also, he's been dating Kristen Kringle. Oh, I've seen how he looked at her so many times. Recently, I've realized it hurts.
"Now, Ed and Kringle are together and you must deal with it!"
But... she didn't like him at all. What is more, she showed him that... how to say this... Oh, I know, that he was way out of his league. Then, she started dating Officer Tom Dougherty. That idiot who abused her and she thought nobody knew about it! Well, congratulations! I'll never forget Ed's face when he saw them together. He looked... broken. I couldn't stand it. Not only did I want to hug him but also tell him everything would be fine. I was hoping he was going to realize she didn't deserve him! Sadly, he wasn't.
Next, when Dougherty disappeared without trace, Kristen Kringle suddenly changed her mind. Isn't that strange? She didn't like Ed, she hated him...
By the way, where's Kringle? I haven't seen her since... yesterday? Yes, for sure. Also, when I met Ed in the morning, he looked stressed, acted like he was looking for something or I don't know what...
Lost in thought, I enter the morgue. Not even possible I can find the files here but... who knows? Nothing can surprise me anymore.
I notice the files! Wow, I can't believe it! They're placed at the table at the corner of the room. I'm going to take them when...
Someone opens the door quickly. It's Ed. He looks sad, tired, worried, sweat running down his face. Also, he looks around like he doesn't want anyone to be here. He doesn't seem to see me, because I stand behind the bookcase, and it's rather dark in here. Heavy breathing, Ed walks over the place where bodies are (some kind of fridge, no, stop it, it's disgusting), looks at one of the cards with description of the body (where, I'm pretty sure, I can see a red question mark), then pulls out a body. I'm going to leave but Leslie gets into the room suddenly. She's probably about to go home (she wears a coat and has a handbag). Ed gasps, shocked. Why is he so nervous?
"Ed? What are you doing?" Leslie looks surprised as well.
Ed turns towards her.
"Dr. Thompkins, hello. Uh, I'm just... double-checking notes for a Jane Doe case I'm working," he says, his voice trembling.
"Do you need help?"
"No! No, no, no. She's all gone."
She's?
"Or she's... I'm sorry, I'm..." Ed closes his eyes for a while. "I'm all done with checking my notes."
"Uh, what notes?" Leslie asks, confused. She doesn't know what Ed means either, just like me.
Looks like he wonders about something, then points his finger to his head.
"It's all up here," he laughs nervously. "Do you realize that by assigning simple mnemonic devices to case files, you can produce recall capacity equal to that of photographic or even eidetic memory?"
Yeah, that's Ed.
"Ed, what's going on?" Leslie comes closer to him, a worried look on her face.
Suddenly, Ed catches her shoulders.
"Okay," he chuckles nervously. "Um, truth be told, uh... I was hoping to run into you here. Alone. It's Ms. Kringle." Leslie sighs. "Uh... We had a fight. "
"I'm sorry." Leslie touches his shoulder, understanding. "Every relationship hits a rough patch now and then."
Ugh, great.
"And you've been so supportive. And I was hoping that maybe we-we could go grab a coffee and you could give me some advice."
Why am I still standing here?! They'll think I eavesdrop on their conversation. I must look like a creep.
"No, no, no, no." Ed catches her shoulder again. "I... I can come back another time."
"It's not like they're gonna go anywhere, right?" Leslie chuckles.
Ed smiles a little.
"You'd think so."
"Yeah, okay."
Leslie leaves and Ed slips the body back. He breathes a sigh of relief. Then, I think he also wants to go away but... He opens the door, looks around (he checks if the hallway is empty), closes the door and goes back to the body, pulling out it again.
I can see a tear running down his cheek. Ed... crying?
I just... feel I can't move. I hold the files tightly and look at him, speechless.
Ed... Oh, Jesus...
He looks truly depressed.
"I want to know why you did this."
Wait, what? I open my mouth but then...
Ed's POV
~
"When Dr. Thompkins walked in the room, how did it feel?"
"I was terrified. She could have discovered the body."
"But she didn't. You got away with it."
"That's not the point."
"That is absolutely the point! You can still feel the rush, can't you? Coming so close to getting caught. Knowing what you would have been forced to do if she had discovered the body, discovered what you had done. Standing... standing at the edge of uncertainty and peering into the void. Now, tell me how... did... it... feel?"
"Beautiful."
My POV
~
"Beautiful."
I freeze in terror.
Ed...
He smirks and burst out laughing.
I drop the files on the floor.
His eye on me...
"Ann... Good evening."

I LOVE that scene, when Ed accepts his dark side, which is just freaking hot (and I love Eddie, such a perfect character)! :')
Well, here you are, hope you enjoy it! Can you please leave a comment? :)
