*flashback*

Thoughts swirled your mind and sent you tumbling into the world of darkness.

The darkness of why you didn't trust others.

His name was Ben (if you don't want to use the name Ben then replace it with like your enemy or something.) and you loved him... A lot. He was just your type and absolutely perfect in your eyes. Nothing this boy could do was wrong.

You two were in the same science class so you had the privilege of seeing him everyday. Some days you even got to talk to him. Pretty soon, somehow, you became friends with him.

You'd never smiled so much in your life until you were with Ben. He made you so happy. He'd say flirtatious comments and you'd give some back but it never really took off.

You're feelings were still there and has now only amplified. One day you got the courage and asked him out.
"Um Ben? Could I uh... Could I talk to you?"
"Yeah sure!" He said with his signature smile plastered on his face. That smile... It made you weak in the knees.
"So what'd you want to talk about?"
"Well um..." Your cheeks flushed a furious shade of red.
"Y/n? Is everything ok?" He seemed concerned.

"You see... I'm not good with words but what I do know is that I like you. So I'm not saying you have to return my feelings but if you would go out with me I'd be the happiest person alive." Your eyes wouldn't move up to meet his in fear of rejection.

"Yeah sure." He said with a simple shoulder shrug and half smile.
For some reason that left a responding pang in your heart but a yes was a yes and you'd sure take it.

You leaped into his arms and gave him a big hug.
"THANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOU!" You said over and over while on the brink of tears.

He returned the hug and you two stood like that for a few seconds before pulling back.

You went home from school literally skipping down your street. Nobody was home so you decided to sing your head off. No loves songs you felt ever related to you but now since you were on cloud nine every lyric clicked.

You and Ben texted later on in the day just about random stuff as usual. Nothing seemed off... At least to you.

The next day you woke up bright and early ready to look your best. You weren't one to care what others think but today was just a special day. Finally ready to head off to see your new boyfriend at school.

Today was a field trip to a roller blading place. You thought it'd be cute to hold hands with Ben or something like that.

However Ben had others plans.

While there he avoided you at all costs. When you did check up to him you noticed how nervous he looked.

"Ben you ok?" You said with concern lacing your words.
"Y-yeah. Totally fine."

Lies.

He sped off again and this time you stopped completely. You understood exactly what was going on. Not even a day had pasted in the relationship and you could tell it was over.

This hurt. So much.

You exited the rink to find your best friend and then just broke down. Everyone from the school was there but at the moment you didn't care.

"Y/n oh my god what's wrong!? What happened? Y/n speak to me!" Your best friend said.

You looked up at her from your slouched crying position and could only mumble one word. "Ben." And then you broke down again.

Your first crush.
Your first love.
Your first relationship.
And your first break up all in less than a day.

You sat with (b/f/n) for the rest of the field trip until Ben's friend came over.

"Uh y/n?" He asked.
"What do you want?" (B/f/n) spat.
"I come here on behalf of Ben. He said its over. I'm so sorry." After that he scurried back into the crowd.

He didn't even have the guts to break up with you himself.

You thought you should be crying but you just went blank. You didn't move. You didn't speak.

After that everyone slowly started to grow apart from you. You weren't your usually cheery self. You were broken and nobody knew how to fix you. Only person that stayed with you was (b/f/n).

You stopped trusting others.
You never told your mom any of this. She already had too much on her plate and you didn't want to burden her.

And then you found video games. You've always loved them but being alone all the time made them even more appealing.

You found people online. People you could trust and people who cared. They could be on the other side of the world but they felt like they were sitting next to you playing the same game. It was great.

Ben had broke you and didn't give two shits but these people wanted to fix you. Video games were where you could ignore reality.

Until SAO, here was even more dangerous than reality. But you had to appear strong, not weak. You had to pretend you were willing to befriend others but unless you really trusted them you always had plans on how to back stab them later.

Even if you didn't want to admit it you were already planning how to leave Kirito.

You didn't need people in this game. You needed to get back to your mom and other gaming friends.

If you couldn't tell this part of the story is heavily based on my life. The characters, the plot, everything is heavily influenced by something I went through. Heartbreaks are the worst so I want you all to know I'm here for you. <3
