Chapter 9

Third Person's Pov. -1 month after Loki's attack-

"Is he still asleep?" Taylor asked James as she walked into an infirmary room in the tower.

"Ya..." James replied back quietly nodding to a sleeping Toni in the corner, "T was up all night because of nightmares, or PTSD attacks, one of the two."

It had been a month since Loki's attack on the tower and Andrew had been in a Coma for the entire time since Loki's attack. It seemed like Avenger's tower was a hub for comatose heroes.

"I've noticed that you've grown close with T," Taylor commented.

"Ya... I had to. With A in a coma, she's lost her other half, plus, she's been through so much I thought that she needs someone to lean on. Plus she knows me already from her time period, apparently we were really close so she clings onto me now," James tried to explain.

Taylor gave a light smile, "That's good. She needs someone."

James nodded a light smile on the corner of his mouth before asking a question.

"Do you think we have kids in A and T's time?" James asked from out of nowhere.

Taylor turned her head to look at her boyfriend, "What?"

"Kids? Like a family? I mean, we're married for god's sakes, we must have kids!" James stated as he tried to explain his logic.

"James, I would not want to put our kids through Loki's rule. They shouldn't live like that, they would be constantly hunted down and used as bribery to take us down. It wouldn't be right to put children through that," Taylor pointed out.

James fell silent at this.

The two J.As where so enwrapped in their talk that they hadn't notice Toni wake up. She had heard everything and her heart pounded hard in her chest.

Had her parents had this conversation in her timeline? Had they discussed this?

Toni slowly opened her eyes and took in the light and groaned at it.

James turned his head to look at Toni.

"Welcome back sleepy head," James chuckled.

"Don't welcome me back... I'm not the one who's in a coma..." Toni mumbled as she sat up from her originally slumped position.

"Hey, it's going to be ok..." Taylor stated with as much hope as she could.

"Ya... sure..." Toni mumbled again.

"Hey almost everyone here's been in a coma! Well not everyone," James added.

Toni raised an eyebrow at this, "What?"

"I was in a Coma for a year that I just woke up from less then 3 months ago!" Taylor stated.

"I didn't know that... you guys never told me and Andrew. You told us about the battle for New York, along the with Battle of New York, but a Coma?" Toni asked.

"Yep, Got stabbed through the stomach by Loki in a fight between us two. Also died because of it and I got the scar on my belly to prove it."

"THAT'S WHERE THAT COMES FROM!?" Toni exclaimed her eyes popping out of her head.

"We never told you that?" James asked raising an eyebrow meanwhile muttering under his breath, "Got to remember that"

"No! You just said that Loki did it! Me, Andrew, and the other Protégées had a bet going! I can believe this! Scarlet won!" Toni exclaimed, "The 10 year old bet everyone!"

"What did she think was the cause?" Taylor asked chuckling.

"That you got stabbed through the back straight through to the front in a stand off with Loki," Toni stated.

"Well she's right."

"Great. Fantastic.... Now a 10 year old gets to pick 4 things from the Black Market," Toni grumbled.

"And what's so bad about that?" James asked.

"Me, A, and our other teammates Pie, that's not his real name though, and Chris each have to buy Scarlet one thing she wants, no matter the price. AND the black market mainly sells dangerous things, which are Scarlet's favorite thing. Trust me, never give that kid a dagger, she may not have powers but she's still deadly." Toni remarked.

"Noted," James chuckled.

"So... what happened to your parents?" Taylor asked suddenly.

Toni snapped her head up to look at her teenage mother and gulped before answering as best she could without giving to much away.

"Umm... My parents? Well... they meet each other about 2 years before Loki took over... and well... they fell in love. Became partners and got married in the rebellion. My mom originally believed that children shouldn't be raised under the rule of Loki... and she's a mutant, so that made it worse knowing that her kids would have powers." Toni started.

"Then apparently.. it just happened... missed the morning after pill or something and boom she's pregnant... She was 28 when she had us. Our father wasn't a mutant but he was a very high up ranking officer in the Allegiance's task force. He supported us and our mother every step of the way... but one day while on patrol... our father took us along... and Loki's Chitari cornered us and killed him while he tried to save me and Andrew.

"It was the worst day of our lives... He died... because of me. I made one mistake and Loki killed him," Toni choked out, tears starting to fill her eyes.

"It... w.w.was...n't yo...ur fault...." a voice croaked out.

Every one turned their heads to look at Andrew, who was struggling to keep his eyes open.

"And!" Toni beamed calling him by his nickname.

"Hey, T..." he mumbled, "C..C.Can I get someee wat-er? Sore... throat... here."

James stood up and walked over to the sink and filled a cup of water before walking back to Toni and handing it to her as she helped Andrew drink by holding the cup for him because he was to weak.

After chugging down the water Andrew laid his head back on the pillow.

"Ugh.... Thanks, I needed that," Andrew sighed before asking, "How long was I out for?"

Toni did not try to lay it on him softly, "One month."

"Oh that's bad..."

"Ya.."

------MEANWHILE DOWNSTAIRS IN THE LAB-----

"Sir I would like to inform you that young master A has just woken up," JARVIS stated

Tony set down the blow torch he had in his hands before answering, "Thanks J!" Then he went back to work.

Tony didn't know why but he felt a connection to these kids, and he promised himself that he would help them. Even if that meant ruining the time stream a little.
