Chapter 28
Frank
The battle was scarier than Frank originally imagined.
Everyone was a splash of orange and purple, colliding into one another, golden and bronze slashing. Trees were aflame, the grass brown and dead. A ring of orange circled around one green tree- a lush pine tree with a golden fleece hung over a branch. A dragon stood alert, rings of smoke come from his nostrils.
Jason lifted the microphone to his lips, inhaling sharply. He boomed, “STOP!”
Some of the warriors stopped in their tracks, swiveling their heads. Their eyes finally focused on Jason; they must have been staring into the screen that had opened when they turned on the spheres.
Some of the warriors still fought, their weapons clanging together with enough force to start sparks.
Leo pressed a button on the remote.
A flash of light lit up on the screen. Some of the demigods were blasted off their feet, their hair standing on end, soot sprinkling their faces. Static cackled on their clothes.
“You,” Octavian spit out, his face fire hydrant red. “What in the name of Pluto do you want? You’re enemies of Rome!”
“I’ve done nothing wrong, Octavian,” Jason replied, authority ringing in every word he spoke. “Leo did not bomb New Rome. It was the eidolons, spirits sent from Gaea herself. You have no right to be attacking Camp Half-Blood.”
The Greeks began to nod in agreement. In the midst of the orange and purple, Frank could see splashes of silver. One of the girls in silver smiled at Jason, her freckled cheeks smeared with dirt and her short black hair tangled around her round face. Frank could only guess that the girl was Thalia Grace, Jason’s older sister.
A centaur was nodding as well. His eyes were filled with wisdom. He had curly brown hair and was holding a bow. His white horse half still skittered nervously, still tense if the battle continued. This must be Chiron, the wise centaur who had been Percy’s teacher.
“Do you have proof that it was the eidolons and not this foolish half-blood?” Octavian sneered, crossing his arms across his chest.
Jason grew quiet. After a moment of silence, he spoke. “Do you think I would lie? I was the praetor. I wouldn’t lie to my own family.”
“Ah,” Octavian cut in, smirking. “But in the months that you dwelled amongst the Greeks may have poisoned your mind.”
One of the Greek demigods scowled suddenly, glaring at Octavian with murderous eyes. The spear in her hand began to cackle with electricity. She towered over the centurion and was obviously must stronger than him.
