Balor waited till he was alone, the others returning to their worlds, before going to check on his daughter. He had a bad feeling and he knew something had happened in his absence. When he reached the tower of diamond, he saw his Giants milling around, not having a care in the world. He frowned as he took on his true form. Closing his one eye, he made his way with powerful hops on his one leg to the top of the tower. Outraged when he came across the dead Giants, he threw open the door and found his daughter laying in bed, her sheets over her naked body; her bare shoulders were visible.
She jolted awake from the door being slammed against the wall. She looked over at the door in bewilderment. Her eyes widened at the sight of her father.
"Where is he?" he demanded as he stormed over. He gripped the satin sheets and threw them aside, looking to see if the man was hiding under the blankets. Finding no one, he moved his face in her direction, hearing her quickly grasp a pillow and hold it over her chest. Her legs were no doubt crossed.
"What is wrong with you?" she screeched, her white fangs glittering in the rainbow of colors. She flinched when he moved closer to her and wrapped his hand around her throat. She refused to let go of the pillow and felt his hand tense in a threat to choke the life from her body. "He left," she said, her voice shaking.
"How did he get past the Giants?"
"He killed them. I do not know how he defeated them with such ease."
He gave a sniff and hissed. "I smell Cian!" He growled as he let her go. "How did he know where you were?"
"I do not know."
"Delano," he growled. "Stupid son of mine!"
She smirked, glad he couldn't open his eye or risk killing her with one look. Good brother of mine. Continue to deny him, she thought. If he could just find a way to free her now. She watched him leave, the door locking behind him. How did he even know something had happened? Her father had a sense that was not to be messed with. Maybe she could leave with the help of her sword? It was a wooden door after all.
After putting on her clothes, she wrapped her pale fingers around the hilt of her sword. She walked up to the door and touched the tip to the wood. She took a deep breath and swung it at the door knob. To her chagrin, it harmlessly bounced off the metal. He had put magic around it to prevent her from using that method. He really was intent on keeping her in there.
"I want out of here!" she yelled at no one. With a growl, she slashed at the wood and again made no damage. If only her powers hadn't been dulled by the potion she had been tricked into drinking. She had never expected to be betrayed by her father like this so she had not thought about the cup of tea he had offered her that day. It had seemed normal. She was going to keep her guard up as soon as she was out.
Where was her brother? Was he purposely taking his time in freeing her? She wanted out as soon as possible so she could go check on her mother. Maybe even become the new queen. She felt a shiver of delight at the thought. Though she loved her mother, she wanted to be queen and never have to worry about what her father would say about her actions. She looked over at her bed.
She had fooled herself in thinking he would take her with him. He just wanted some free sex and a way of getting to her father no doubt. He certainly got what he wanted. Did her father do something that upset him?
