Chained to Memories

"We're gonna get caught-"
"Not if you don't shut up."
"Hey! Leave him alone!"
"SSSHHH! He could hear us!"
"Like I said, not if you SHUT UP!"
"Leo! Leave him alone!"
"Ugh!" The leaf green turtle slumped down as they trudged through the tunnels of the underground sewers. He was the joker, the insulter, and the mean one. As the lime green one was kind, wise, guarding, and protective. The lanky one was loud and joyful, leaving the yellow-green turtle the silent one who observed.
He would smile very often at something someone said or because of what they did. Though, he never really talked and that made everyone raise their eyebrows. Three year-olds were suppose to talk, at least that's what their father said. Every kid should be loved and happy, or at least, that's what he remembered his father saying.
The lanky one smiled and giggled as he tugged on his brothers mask tails for what seemed like the hundredth time. He groaned and turned around, making him smile even larger and giggle as he slightly shrunk his head into his shell.
"Donnie, please stop. It's getting annoying now." The younger one nodded furiously and smiled sweetly, earning a sigh and a smile back.
The leaf green one groaned and rolled his eyes as he turned around began to trudge back down the tunnel again. The short younger one quickly jogged to catch up with the rest of the turtles as they began moving again.
"So, what's gonna happen when he finds out we left?" Leo asked, turning to face his brother as he continued to walk backwards. Raph shrugged, humming an 'I don't know' tune with it. Donnie giggled and pulled on his mask tails again, earning a glare that made Donnie step off a couple steps.
"I don't know, but I do know that we need to get back home as soon as possible. Maybe daddy hadn't found out we left." He suggested. Leo shrugged in union with Raph before turning back around.
They had managed to find the entrance to their home after whines, grumbles, screaming, punching walls demanding answers, and crying for their dad to come save them.
Raph stood on the ends of his toes to reach the handle of the door before pulling it and pushing it open. They had quickly made their way inside the lair before silently closing the door behind them.
Raph looked around before putting his index finger over his mouth and began to slowly make his way to the kitchen, his brothers following him -ready to blame and point fingers at him.
When they had gone into the kitchen they looked around and had their shells to the door. Almost jumping out of their shells and squealing as the lights flicked on, they quickly turned around to see their fathers angry yet worried face.
"H-hey d-daddy." Raph said with his head slowly tilting down. "W-we were... Uh..."
He looked over to Leo and slightly shrugged. Leo catching the hint turned to look at his father who was now glaring at him. He gulped before starting.
"We got hungry, we came for a snack." He smiled. His fathers ear twitched.

----

They sat on their bed crying and hugging each other as their sore bottoms were red and stinging.
The youngest one shed a tear or two, not really feeling the pain. He didn't quite get it, he felt like he had already gone through something similar before and he felt used to it. He didn't remember anything of getting abused or hurt, so why did he feel like he did? He sighed and wiped the tears from his eyes.
Leo had calmed down before Raph, then Donnie did when Leo started to rub his shell soothingly. He then started to do the same to Mikey, who was on his left.
Mikey looked over at Leo in shock, but didn't pull away or tell him to stop as it helped his mind calm down and his heart stop racing. He then slowly looks down at his lap before closing his eyes.
He hadn't ever received any attention or care, at least that's what it always felt like. Though his brothers would always kiss his forehead before going to bed, or hugging him for the heck of it, or smiling at him whenever they met gazes.
Their father came back in and motioned for them to scoot over to him, which they did in a blink of an eye. They were tightly engulfed by two strong and soft arms, pulling them close to a chest that always seemed puffed out and proud.
"Don't run off again my sons. I don't enjoy hurting you, but you four had left me no choice." He looked down at his four little turtle sons, meeting four sets of eyes. Chocolate brown, Amber green, cerulean blue, and baby blue.
They nodded before tucking. Their heads back in his chest.
"Leonardo, you are the eldest. Take care of your brothers and they'll return the favor someday. Raphael, you are the second eldest. Make decisions that Leonardo may have not thought off. Protect them from harm. Donatello, use you're mind to think of what will happen and what the consequences would be if you did what you were going to do. Use you're brain, for you can accomplish many things. And Michelangelo,"
He smiled down the pair of baby blue eyes that looked up at him.
"Make spirits rise and make them happy, for they work and cooperate better like that. Bring happiness, joy, and peace amongst others. It will pay off someday and the world will become a better place for all."
The turtles looked back up at their father, smiling that nodded before laughing. Mikey laughed along with them, a silent one. He looked over at his brothers and back at his father before laughing louder with the biggest smile anyone of them had ever made.

Make people happy he said. It will bring peace he said. Why do I feel like this I said.
