"....she reminds me of someone who hurt me."
Raphael looked as if he could throw up. He continued to have a soft glare towards Michelangelo and his grip loosened on his shoulders. The words slowly went down his throat and into the dark abyss.
"What the heck do you mean by that?" Raphael managed to ask with a more harsh tone than he wanted. Michelangelo only bit the inside of his mouth and shifted uncomfortably on his feet, denying to look into his brothers eyes.
"Mikey," Raphael tightened his grip on his brothers shoulders again, "what does that mean?"
Michelangelo took a deep breath and opened his mouth to say words but a knock was heard. Michelangelo slipped free from Raphael's grip and opened the door, only to face a Leonardo that had his arms crossed.
"Oh, hey Leo!" Michelangelo awkwardly laughed and smiled, "what's up bro?" He lightly punched Leonardo's arms with a laugh, but it drained out as Leonardo had a straight and hard face that told him he wasn't in the playing mood.
"April told me you were acting weird. What's that about?" Leonardo said in a mad and deep tone.
"That b-"
"Cursing isn't nice raph!" Michelangelo yelled before Raphael's inappropriate word came out. Leonardo only glared and moved inside the room as Donatello came up behind him.
"What's this about?" Donatello raised his eyes ridge in confusion, only to get a snort from Raphael as an answer.
"What's this about?" Donatello repeated and looked over to Leonardo.
He only sighed and let his arms drop lose by his sides. He looked at all of his brothers, who looked back at him confused.
"Let's just try to act normally around her, okay?"
"But it's weird to have a girl around." Michelangelo added, earning a nod from Raphael and a 'meh' from Donatello. "And she doesn't really know how we like to do things around here anyways." Michelangelo finished.
"And she's not the only one who's weird to have around," Raphael looked at the orange clad ninja, "now is she?"
This made Leonardo and Donatello raise an eye ridge and stare at the turtle too.
"What's that mean?" Donatello asked.
"Yeah, what's that mean?" The leader added with confusion in his voice.
"He said April reminded him of someone who-"
"Showed in a t.v commercial. She looks exactly like her!" Michelangelo cut off.
"She reminds him of someone who-"
"Commercial!"
"Someone who-"
"T.V!"
"SOMEONE WHO-"
"COMMERCIAL!!"
"WHO HURT HIM!"
"What?" Leonardo asked, shocked by Raphael's words. Donatello had gone a shade paler than his healthy skin color.
"Oh no." Michelangelo mumbled and slowly shrunk his head into his shell. He had to let the words slip, didn't he?
"Mikey," Leonardo worriedly said, "what?" He asked in a soft voice.
"It...I.... Commercial....."---
One week later
---He stared at his reflection in the metal. The sharp blade, sharp, very hurtful. It was familiar with him and his heart and mind was used to the pain of what it felt like to feel that sharp blade, metal, tip pierce him.
It scared him to think that his youngest brother, as bright as he was, to hide and say such a thing. He wasn't used to it.
And frankly, he didn't want to.
A week had passed and he was at a loss for words to make up and put in a straight line before exiting them from his mouth. Because whenever he did open his mouth to release the words they forgot their pattern and order, making up a jumble of words and sounds that only earned frowns and raised eyebrows.
Being the one who should have everything memorized and kept burned into his mind, he beat himself up mentally for not knowing something so plainly obvious.
April unsettled him.
Of course. The redhead had appeared and Michelangelo would just want her out of their life's because she had reminded him of someone. Someone particular.
A friend? No.
A family member? Woah, way off.
An abuser?
Ding!
His finger swept along the blade, piercing and slicing his skin open. He blinked a couple of quick seconds before hissing as the pain settled in. He brought his thumb up to glance at it, crimson liquid slowly trickling down.
He sighed and slouched a little as he set the half polished katana on the mats of the dojo. He placed his elbows on his knees and stared at his thumb, his eye ridges frowning even deeper.
"You gonna stare at it or clean it off emo?"
Leonardo turned around and found Raphael walking into the dojo, his right eye ridge raised and a slight tug of his lips down.
Leonardo grunted and wiped the blood into his knee pad before turning back around and slouching once again, eyes boring into the mats.
"Why are you up so early?"
"I could ask you the same thing." Raphael replied cooly and sat down by the blue clad ninja.
Leonardo gave a chuckle that said 'you know me too well' and shook his head.
His smile slowly disappeared and was replaced with a frown again. Raphael seemed to notice it and sighed lightly.
"Spill it."
"Spill what?" Leonard asked.
"You know what, you can't hide from me."
"Watch me."
Raphael only lifted his chin up a little and stared ahead of him, taking his eyes off of his older brother. It was weird talking to him like this. He wasn't used to it, and they've never really had a civilized talk without it ending in black eyes.
"Where on earth would he say a statement like that?"
"Like what? That he found a moldy pizza box under his mattress?"
"No! That April reminds him of someone who hurt him!?" Leonardo paused and looked at Raphael, a frown appearing.
"Did you say a moldy pizza box?"
"No! I didn't!" Raphael shook his head, eyes going wide, and smirked and jerked his eye ridge up at Leonardo before looking around the dojo. Leonardo huffed silently before looking back at his katanas that were placed in front of him from where he sat criss-crossed on the dojo floor.
Leonardo sighed, still hearing Raphael mumble- ("pizza box? What pizza box?") ("we haven't had pizza in months.") ("You must be going deaf.")
Once Raphael had quieted down, he looked over at his tense brother, and wondered if he looked like Leonardo did right In Front of him. Stomach slightly caved in, his face slightly shrunken, his muscles fading and going smaller, and he bet Leonardo had huge purple half circles under his eyes.
"You know, he-" Raphael licked his lips and looked over to his wrist wrappings and started to pluck at them. Leonardo blinked and focused his attention back onto Raphael's voice.-(since he wasn't looking at him. )
"He did tell me something."
"Like what? Was it- I know it was- about April and what he had said?" Raphael gave a small 'yeah'.
"He said... That- that she- he rather- uh-" Raphael have a deep breath in. Leonardo looked at Raphael with focused eyes.
"What?"
Raphael looked at Leonardo with the same look, only there was something else hidden in his Amber green eyes.
"He said he remembered a past life with a girl named 'Sammantha'."
