A/N Fanfiction :D I'm excited about writing this, and personally I love the title! OK so I know this chapter's boring but c'mon what 1st chapter of a story isn't?
Enjoy! :)
Chapter 1
"You have to come with me!" Emily pouted. This is the 5th time in one day she has asked me. My answer is always the same - no.
"Emily, how many times do I have to say it? No!" I sigh, rubbing my hands over my forehead. That's my habit when I'm stressed, and that's why Emily should stop her nagging, stress is bad.
''Liam said I could bring you Maya. I want to go, but not by myself. Plus there will be lots of cute guys there." She winks. This girl really doesn't know the meaning of no does she?
"I don't care if Taylor Lautner will be there. I've got exams that need to be studied for." I reply nonchalantly. In all honesty, it isn't Emily and her pleads that are stressing me out, it's those exams. Goddamn Uni!
"Ugh, Maya! Studying is all you ever do! Just come with me tonight, it's just one night, a break from studying." She attempts to reason. I guess if you put it like that... I mean, I have been studying alot these past few weeks, perhaps a break, or rather a house party, would be good.
"OK." I sigh giving in to her. I'm so easily convinced...
"Yes!" She squeals jumping up and fist pumping the air. Why's she so excited, it's only a party.
"Well alrighty then... You've never told me you have a cousin named Liam before, I thought I knew the family you were close with?" I say fairly confused with my best friend. Not once has she mentioned her having a cousin named Liam.
"Well, you've met his mum, Karen, but Liam travels around England with four of his other friends." She shrugs picking up an apple from the fruit bowl on my kitchen table.
"Oh... I didn't even know your aunt Karen had a son, I thought there were only two girls, Ruth and Nicola."
"Liam's their little brother, he's nineteen, like us! You never met him because he stayed in his room the whole time. He used to be bullied, but those bastards surely regret bullying him now!" She laughs, taking another chunk out of her apple.
"That's awful!" I gasp. Wow... That poor guy.
"Trust me, he's over that now. He has an amazing life."
"I can't wait to meet him tonight, when is the party?" I ask.
"At 9:30. Shit, it's 7:30 now and we're here in sweats and t-shirts!" She squeaks jumping out of her chair and dragging me to my room, leaving her half eaten apple abandoned.
"Crap! I didn't bring any clothes with me and I won't have time to go back home and grab some." She whines. Oh Emily, I do worry about you sometimes. The girl doesn't realize my wardrobe is full of clothes...
"Eh, Emily..." I say opening the door to my wardrobe and nodding my head towards the clothes inside. "I've got loads of clothes." Hopefully now she'll take my hint.
"Maya, I know you have clothes. We're in your house. Duh! The problem is I don't have clothes." She replies like I had just said the weirdest thing ever.
I facepalm. "You can borrow some of my clothes, stupid." I chuckle, shaking my head at her stupidness.
"Hey, don't call me stupid!" She frowns and playfully hits me on the arm. "OK, so what are we gonna wear then?" She asks scanning through my wardrobe.
"I think I'll wear my skater skirt and... This top." I announce pulling out a black top with blue, cream and purple butterflies on it with frill coming down the neckline.
"And for the shoes?" Emily wonders crouching down to my show rack at the bottom of my wardrobe. She takes out a pair of deep blue heels, to match the butterflies on the top and hands them to me. I take them from her, as she smiles proudly at her choice.
"OK, now what about you..." I mumble going through the hangers once again. "Oh, this!" I shout pulling out a navy dress with cream lace around the neck line. It's easy what shoes to pick, cream coloured to match the lace, simple.
"Perfect!" Emily exclaims. "Now for the hair!" She squeals taking out my curling wand and curls the ends of her lovely blond hair into loose curls. Her favourite bit when we're getting done up is always doing her hair, be it going shopping or to a club, it always has to be perfect for her. She thinks that's what makes her image complete. Emily's a pretty girl, she doesn't need to be done up because she has 'natural beauty', but she doesn't see that.
I think I'll leave my hair my natural curly style, it practically looks like I had curled it with a curler anyway. I put on my clothes and look at my reflection in my full length mirror. I take a twirl as my brown hair sways around in the air along with my skirt. I come to a sudden hault when I see my face in the mirror, somethings missing... Oh God! Make up!
"Something wrong?" Emily laughs as she curls a strand of hair against the hot surface of the wand.
"I almost forgot to put on make up!" Emily dramatically covers her mouth with her hand and gasps, mocking me. At the end it's me laughing though, she lost concentration with the wand and burned her ear. That's what you call karma bitch!
"Don't laugh, Maya." Emily scolds looking at her burnt ear in the mirror.
"Emily it's fine. What time is it?" I ask realizing we've been up here for quite a while. Emily takes her phone off the floor beside her and takes a peak at the time.
"Shit! Maya, its 9:00!" She tells me, panic clear in her voice. Nine already? I haven't a scratch of make up on!
"Oh fuck!" I curse grabbing my make up bag and pouring the supplies out onto the wooden floor. Emily finishes her curls, her hair takes ages because of the thickness and shortness.
I quickly apply foundation, mascara, blusher, eyeliner and lipgloss. I literally smear it across my face. In the end it all turns out well enough.
Emily runs out from the bathroom, where she did her make up, with it looking perfect! Emily is amazing at eye make up and it really makes her sea blue eyes stand out.
"Ready?" She grins, jingling her car keys in her hand.
"Ready." I smirk, grabbing my purse and following Emily out the front door. The nerves are getting to me, I always feel like this before parties but for some reason, this is the worst.
"Where does Liam live?" I ask curiously.
"Middle of London in a complex of apartments with his best friends." She replies, not taking her eyes off the road.
"Cool." I smile. That actually sounds amazing! I would love to live in the same complex as Emily, but sadly that isn't my story.
It doesn't really take us long considering it's only like two or three miles from where I live.
"I haven't seen Liam in like forever!" Emily says excitedly. I laugh and step out of her car, walking up to the path of what looks like a crowded apartment.
Emily pushes the double doors into the main entrance open and we wait for a response behind the main door. In a matter of secs a man comes to greet us, an all too familiar man... Oh my gosh!
"Emily, you made it!" He shouts over the thumping music coming from the background behind him. He pulls Emily into a warm hug and squeezes her tight. Emily, how could you have kept this a secret...
