*Tylers POV*

I climbed onto the bus and took my usual seat. It was quiet on the bus, considering i was the first one on. a few other kids passed me as the bus filled up but only did i lighten up when i saw Madi come walking down the isle. She threw her backpack down and sat next to me.

"Hi." she said. i hadn't seen her since lunch; and i wasn't sure where she had gone.

"Hi. Where were you after lunch?"  The bus doors closed and began at a forward motion.

"Umm, i had a stomach ache from the nasty food at school... so i went to the nurse." she said unsure about it.

"Oh, Ok are you feeling any better?" I asked feeling awkward.

"Ya, thanks."   We sat in silence for a few minutes. I stared out the window longing for something smart and witty to say. Suddenly it came to me... well it was kind of a lame topic but better than not saying anything at all.

"So isn't going to summer school really stupid?" I asked turning towards her.

"Oh ya well funny story, the only reason I'm in summer school is because i wasn't in school at all this year." She seemed though to regret saying anything after the words came out of her mouth.

"How come?" I asked curiously.

"Well... umm, it was sort of a vacation?" she said it as more of a question.

"Awesome! was it some sort of cruise? Did you travel the world? My aunt did that last year and said it was awesome! though it did get annoying because the boat rocking continuously made her dizzy." My cheeks redded when i realized how off topic that i had gotten.

She looked at me and laughed. It was a light fluttery laugh. It was the first time i had ever heard her laugh before.

"Cool-   "Hey you two love birds, why don't you shut up? I can hear you from all the way back here!"

We both turned around and looked above our seat, sitting a few seats behind us was Joey Newt.   Quickly, ( the first week of being in summer school) I had learned to stay away from Joey Newt. He was a mean little ( more like oversized whale) who was a jerk and idiot, he (hence being in summer school, had the IQ of a walnut) Yes I was in summer school but it wasn't because i was stupid like him, i just hadn't tried very hard in my old school.  Anyway, Joey had thick, black, greasy hair that hung just above his unibrow and he had sweat stains underneath his armpits. Always. I honestly didn't understand why every one thought he was so scary ( I had a thought though that it was becasue if he fell on you he'd flatten you like a pancake) but i also had a theory that i was because he brother had been in jail twice and could seriously injure you with a flick of the wrist.

"Shut up Joey!" Madi growled. She always seemed to have a stronger disliking for Joey than the rest of us.

"Awww Tyler, your little girlfriend needs to defend you... what are you to weak? Are you a chicken?" he teased.

"I told you to shut up, Newt! If you won't be quiet than go take a hike!" She growled at him. I looked into Madi's eyes and saw a look of utmost dislike towards him.

*Madi POV*

"I told you to shut up, Newt! If you won't be quiet than go take a hike!" I growled at Joey Newt. He didn't so much as move an inch and if i was hearing correctly (he spoke louder)   "You think I'm scared of you, Madi Black? Well I'm not. Your nothing better than a annoying, little brained brat." He moved closer to us, pushing a kid out of the seat in the process.

"Well than your sadly mistaken if you think I'm scared of you." I hissed. I could feel Tyler tense next to me "Madi, just leave him alone." Tyler breathed.

"I knew you were a chicken, Tyler. Just didn't know you were a wuss." Joey challenged.

"If your going to be mean to me, don't bring in other people. We understand that you thrive off of others misery but come on. Not cool."  I snapped. Joey stepped a inch away from my face, his smelly breath invaded my nostrils.  "Back away, monkey butt." i snapped in his face. Instead of backing up, he got even closer, his nose a milmeter from mine. Before i realized what i had done. I brough my hand up and forced it into his stomach. He went flying backwards, hit the window across from us, slumped into the sleep and didn't move. Just then i realized the bus had stopped at our stop. I smiled in satisfaction before stomping off the bus, Tyler trailing dazed behind me.
