Madi Black.
Why was the girl from across the street in my dreams?? Why did she appear on my paper? My thoughts were jumbled inside of my head as I tried to process this. Why was I, who had to deal with this?
Just outside a flash of light appears outside. I ran over to the window, just as the downpour of rain pelts the window. The sky filled with dark ominous clouds and the distant rumble of thunder fills my mind.
I went back over to the office chair and sit in it, nibbling at my finger nails longing to call Dylan. But I knew if i filled him with my issues, than he would just just come rushing home and not go to the Lakers game.
It was quickly dissolved that i couldn't sit for long without my leg twitching so I got up and paced back and forth the office, the soles of my flip-flips wearing down. I had to figure out something to do.
Then i realized that the only thing i could do, so before i knew what was happening i grabbed my rain jacket and sketch and ran out in the pouring rain. The ground was already soaked with water and the rain gutters in the streets were over flowing. I ran with my sketched tucked safely under my rain slicker, to prevent it from getting wet. I crossed the street and ran into the yard of the neighbors. Their dark red house towered over me as i ran up onto the porch.
Was I crazy to be doing this?
Maybe so.
But it didn't stop me when I banged loudly on the door. No one answered for the longest time and a small part of my brain was releaved but a bigger part of me stuck to the porch like glue. The lightning and the storm continued on as i waited for 5 minutes. Finally the door creaked open to reveal a woman with long black hair and pale skin she resembled Madi Black and I figured it was her mother. Her face registered shock as took in my appearence, she looked as though she knew me from somewhere.
"Hello? I'm Emma Fray from across the street?" I shouted over the pouring rain behind me.
"We can't have visitors!" She yelled at me.
"But, please ma'am! I just need to talk, it'll be quick!" I shout. Lightning cracked behind me.
"I already said, no! Now go!" She demanded. She seemed thoroughly pissed off.
"But it's important and I know its raining out and everything but please, it's urgent! It's got something to do with your daughter! Well it might, I'm not sure, please"? I begged. Her eyes darkened at the sound of her daughter. I whimpily held up the drawing to show her.
"Why do you have drawings of my daughter?!" She screeched. I shrunk back and tried to respond.
"She... she, was in my nightmares- dreams i mean, no i mean." I tried but Mrs.Black seemed un impressed. She stepped out onto the porch and stomped right infront of me. My hands began to tremble and the sketch fell out of my grasp it fluttered to the porch floor. "Stay away from my daughter!" She hissed. i jerked my head in what was supposed to be a nod. She then gave me a long hard look into my eyes. She stared into them for the longest time. The storm went on behind us and her front door shut with a bang from the wind. She then opened her mouth and let out an ear peircing scream. Her hair flew back out of her face and was a long wave behind her. She screamed right into my face ,which only made me scream even louder. I jumped off the porch and landed with a thud. Rain soaked through my clothes and drenched my hair in a matter of a few seconds. I quickly stumbled up and gave one terrified last look at Mrs. Black before sprinting off in the direction of my house.
I turned around one last time to see that Mrs.Black was no where to be seen.
