"This is impossible. . ." My shoulder aches and I can still feel the imprints from Klaus's strong hands from the alley. I sneak a glance at him and he is still scowling on the other side of the room.

"So she's a hybrid of sorts?" Elijah questions, sitting beside me as he leans forward. The woman nods.

"Yes. Part witch, part vampire." Rebecca scoffs, standing next to Elijah, hands perched on her hips.

"That's absurd. She was out in broad daylight, we all saw her."

"Damphyrs don't have the same weaknesses as normal vampires, which allows them to more easily conceal their identities. It is only her being part witch that ties her to the witch covens, and why we were able to sense her powers." Elijah, Rebecca and Klaus all give each other worried looks, then Elijah turns to me, concern in his eyes.

"It might be best for you to stay with us Lilly. I'll have a room prepared for you but . . . under the circumstances . . . it would suit your protection as well as. . Others." I look into Elijah's eyes and see such warmth and kindness . . . such that I've never seen. I nod, sensing Klaus looking at me and his brother intently before interrupting.

"By all means brother lets open our home to the girl that, not only attacked me, but put Cami's life at stake as well. Elijah, your bleeding heart never ceases to amaze me."

"That's enough Niklaus..." Elijah warns, starting to get up from the couch. Placing my hand on his arm, I speak softly,

"He's right. . . I'm a monster. ." A single tear rolls down my cheek and Klaus's face immediately softens as he takes a step towards me but I hold up a hand, "Don't. You've said enough," I turn to the woman, "thank you for revealing just how much of an abomination I really am."

"Way to go Nick." Rebecca murmurs, coming to my side, wrapping her arms around my shoulders, "Come, let's get you cleaned up." She leads me away, as I take one last look at Klaus. He has turned his back and is staring out into the courtyard again, his jaw clenched tightly, while Elijah walks the woman out. 'An abomination. . . . Yes, that's what I am. I guess I just will never be able to fit in." Sadly I make my way towards the bathroom, hanging my head in despair.
