Carlisle ran outside as the car pulled up infront of the white house. Edward came bounding out of the woods, Alice and Jasper close behind.

"What is it?  What's wrong? Edward? " Carlisle held up a hand to stop his son from going further. Edward's jaw was clenched tight and it looked like he might start crying. It pained Carlisle and the others to see him in such a state. Knowing he wasn't getting any answers from his son, Carlisle turned to the others.

"We ran into a problem." Jasper said as Rosalie and Emmette got out of the car.

"I should KILL her! " Rosalie screamed to no one in particular. A large flock of birds that had been resting in the trees nearby took flight, scattering in fear.

"No one touches her! " Edward bellowed, startling everyone.

"Now everyone just calm down. Whatever the problem is, we can handle it. We always do." Carlisle said, placing a soothing hand on Edward's shoulder. Esme appeared next to him, her face etched with concern. "Can someone please explain what is going on?" Carlisle demanded.

"We had a run in with Bella." Jasper started. "She's.... well she's a vampire. And she apparently has a clan."

It took a lot to shock Carlisle, but his mouth hung open as he processed what he was hearing. "How did this happen?"

"She's an ungreatful -" Rosaline started but was cut of by Edwards harsh snarl. Carlisle looked between the two then back at Jasper, who was holding Alice, her perfect features twisted in confusion and annoyance. She desperately search the future before her and she realized alarmingly that everything was going black.
"I can't see." Alice cried! " everything is disappearing!"
"Will there be a confrontation?" Esme asked, alarmed? Are we going to die?
" I don't know! I see nothing, no future, no battle..." Alice trailed off, her shoulders slumping in defeat.
"I couldn't read the minds of her companions." Edward finally said.
"I wasn't able to sense their emotions either, despite the clear hostility they were showing." Jasper chimed.
     "Hostility?" Carlisle asked quizzically.
"Bella wants nothing to do with us. She wants us gone. If I didn't know any better, I'd say she's been holding a grudge for the last hundred years.." Edward let out a choked sound as Jasper put everything he'd witnessed on the table. hearing it out loud made it all true and it killed him.

"They're coming tonight." Emmett said. "Whatever she has to say, she didn't want to say it publicly."

Carlisle nodded. "We owe her that much." This is our fault. Edward cringed as his father  accepted the blame.
No. This was his fault. He hung his head low, realizing his actions had not only lost him the love of his life, but put his whole family in danger.
The silence hung thick in the air, as he and his family waited blindly for the oncoming storm.
