Another one of the finest screwball comedy, It Happened One Night makes a lot of reference on the bible story about Joshua and the Battle of Jericho.

Ellen "Ellie" Andrews, a spoiled heiress, married fortune hunter King Westley, much to her father's disapproval and after a heated argument, Ellen swan away from their sip and went to a trip to New York alone, where she met Peter Warne, a journalist, who recognized her and with an exclusive interview, Warne agreed to disguise Ellen, they travelled pretending to be man and wife.

The two slowly fell in love and during a small accident wherein Ellie was nearly discovered, they both left the transport bus and went hitchhiking. They checked in on a motel where Ellie confessed her feelings for Peter. Peter left their motel room while Ellie was sleeping, to get some money, for them to be able to run away together.

Believing Peter left her, Ellie called her father, who now approves of her relationship with Westley, and went back to her life on New York. A telegram sent by Warne during the early stage of their travel was read by Ellie and she immediately thought Warne only wanted her money.

And well, watch it to know what the ending is... :))) And the references on The Walls of Jericho is fantastic.

For me, this movie shows off Clark Gable's comedic side and I believe his performance in this movie is much better than his Rhett Butler. 8.2/10 on IMDb.

Directed By: Frank Capra

Starring: Clark Gable and Claudette Colbert

Trivias:

- Though Clark Gable, who played Peter Warne, and director Frank Capra, enjoyed the film, it was reported that Claudette Colbert didn't, saying she disliked the film so much she didn't even thought of attending the Oscars, but since she won Best Actress, she was rushed to the event wearing a travelling suit.

- Robert Montgomery turned down the male lead saying the script was the worst thing he ever read.

- Frank Capra, came up with the "Walls Of Jericho" because Claudette Colbert refused to undress in front of the camera.

- Clark Gable said, "Let's get this over with," grimly on his first day.

- It Happened One Night was one of Adolf Hitler's favorite movie. Clark Gable was his favorite actor, too.
