Vinny’s P.O.V.
“Vin, we’re going shopping, wanna come?” Alessandra says, interrupting my T.V. time.
“Sure, why not.” I say back, since I’m bored out of my mind. I stand up to go up to my room and just start to open my room when I hear a knock at the door and Alessandra open it. Slowly, the sound of Kahtea’s voice drifts up the stairwell, making me smile.
I walk into the my room and put on my shoes and grab my jacket and hear the door close. I look out my window to see Kahtea walk across the yard, through the rain, and into her house, shutting the door behind her. I walk down the stairs and Bianca and Alessandra are sitting on the couch flipping through channels on the T.V.
“Het, what happened to the mall?” I ask. Weren’t we just about to leave?
“Oh yeah, Kahtea’s coming with us, so we’re waiting for her.” she says, bored. I nod my head, acting like she said nothing, but in reality, I was screaming inside. I walked over to the kitchen to grab a drink of water when I heat a knock at the door. Alessandra gets up to get it, asks Kahtea if she’s ready, then yells at us to hurry up.
“Let’s go, Vin!” Bianca says as she runs out of the house with the last umbrella. I chug down the rest of my water and run out, grabbing my jacket and catching up to her, sheltering me with the large umbrella.
“Hey Kahtea!” I say enthusiastically as we reach the car. She smiles at me with that perfect smile, making me smile even bigger as she crawls into the car.
“Hi! Did your sisters drag you to come?” she says as she settles into her seat.
“No, Vincent actually likes shopping. Weird, huh?” Bianca says from up front. I look down and blush. Great; she probably thinks I’m gay now or something. I see her smile out of the corner of my eye and listen as Bianca and Alessandra and Bianca fight over which station to listen to.
We finally arrive at the mall and head into Forever 21 so they can look for clothes, and about five minutes into the trip, Kahtea starts to freak out.
“Holy shit, Vinny hide me” Kahtea whisper- yells at me as she suddenly hides behind my back.
“What, what, where, what’s wrong?” I ask, searching the room for any signs of a pedophile or something.
“Oh my god, is that who I think it is? It is! Kahtea! Oh my god, how are you! When did you move out here?” I hear a peppy voice pipe up from the rack of clothes in front of me.
“Tiffany! I didn’t even see you!” Kahtea says as she awkwardly rises up from behind my back.
“Oh my god, it’s been forever! When did you move here?” she says to an obviously annoyed Kahtea.
“I just moved here yesterday, I was gonna call you, but I lost your number.” She says, faking sadness as best as she could.
“Oh wow, that’s so soon! So who are they?” she asks, gesturing to me, Bianca, and Alessandra.
“Oh, right. This is Alessandra, Bianca, and Vincent.” Kahtea says as the preppy ‘Tiffany’ looks at all of us, locking her eyes on me.
“Oh, are you and Vinny dating or something?” she asks, doing these weird eyes movements at me.
“Oh, no. we’re just friends.” She says quickly. Hopefully, that’ll change one day.
“Really?” Tiffany asks, taking a step towards me , making me extremely uncomfterable, and smiling at me while she writes down her number. I just look over at Kahtea to see her with her head in her hands, shaking her head. I hear Alessandra and Bianca laughing next to me, and I just laugh silently to myself. This number is going to be thrown away instantly.
“Um, thanks.” I say to her awkwardly.
“Oh, Kahtea, it was so nice to see you! I missed you, and we def need to hang out soon!” Tiffany says as she spins around, splashing her fountain of hair into my face, making my nose tickle. I crinkle my nose and itch it, making Kahtea laugh.
“Yeah, for sure!” Kahtea replies with fake enthusiasm. God, this Tiffany girl is so dumb. How is she missing all of these fake emotions towards her?
“Kk! Well, Vinny has my number, so call me, kay? Kay. Toodledoo!” Tiffany says as she bounces away. Toodledoo? Who uses that word anymore?
“Sorry. I actually hate her, but we’re family friends so I can’t do anything about it.” Kahtea says apologetically.
“Hey, it’s cool. Vinny’s face was so worth it.” Bianca says as she and Alessandra start cracking up. I glare at them, but they don’t see it since they just keep laughing.
“Well, if you want to see this phone number again, I suggest getting it now because it’s going in the trash” I say, crumpling it up into a ball and offering it to her.
“I’m good, thanks.” She says and I shrug and throw it away in the trashcan that is next to us.
“So, why do you hate her so much?” I ask as we pay for our things, and I see her tense up a little.
“Well, each time I got a boyfriend she would start to flirt with them, and every time I caught them cheating on me. That’s why I’ve only had two boyfriends; I couldn’t risk another heartbreak.” She says frowning.
“Well, now it’s a new city, so you can totally ignore her since she doesn’t even go to our school.” I say reassuringly. Man, those guys missed out.
AFTER 2 AND A HALF HOURS OF SHOPPING
“Wow, that was quite the shopping trip!” Kahtea says, her arms full of bags of new clothes. “Thanks for driving me there and stuff; it was really fun!” She says to us.
“Don’t mention it; it really was a lot of fun!” Bianca says back. It really was a lot of fun. Kahtea smiles and waves goodbye as she unloads all her stuff from the trunk and walks into her house. I grab my new pair of Vlados and walk into the house with Al and Bianca trailing behind me.
“So, Vin, fun day, huh?” Bianca says teasingly from behind me.
“Yeah, it really was.” I say, smiling to myself.
“Oh, give it a rest. You like her” Bianca says from behind me. I smile, even though they can’t see me and run up to my room without answering. I did, I really did.
