“Kahtea, Kahtea, wake up! It’s your first day of school!” my mom yells in my ear as I slap her hand away that’s trying to shake me awake. “I will go get the ice bucket.” My mom threatens seriously.

“I’m up!” I yell as I run into the bathroom. I hear her laugh and I pull a brush through my hair, hearing the door close. I look out the window to see what the weather was like; rain clouds hung low, threatening to pour rain any time now. I sigh and go over to my newly- stocked closet to find clothes for my first day of school. I decide on a pair of jeans and a nice pullover sweater I found at Forever 21, then my Uggs. I go down the stairs to get my chopped mango I bought at the store, my favorite food, and go back upstairs. I’m a morning person after I wake up, but it just takes some time to get me up with this time difference.

“You’re already dressed? You still have half an hour!” my mom exclaims as she sees me grabbing my mango. I shrug and walk back up the stairs to my room, turning on my T.V. to the pretty little liars I recorded last night, packing my backpack as I watch it.

I finish off my mango and a commercial comes on, so I go into my attached bathroom and brush my teeth and put on some eyeliner and mascara, not needing anything else because of my perfect tan skin. I walk back out to my room and look at my clock: 7:10. Great, I still had 50 minutes to get ready, then half an hour to get to school since school starts at 8:30. I laid down on my bed and watched the rest of my pretty little liars as I went on my computer and went on random websites I found when I got a text.

I looked at my phone and saw it was a text from Vinny. I opened it and it said ‘hey, are we still on for ICON after school?’ I replied back and said ‘of course!’ I put down my phone and looked at the clock now: 7:45. I went downstairs to find my parents in their fancy work suits.

“Hey mom, dad, why are you guys so dressed up? I though the firm didn’t open for another week?” I say, grabbing myself a glass of water.

“It doesn’t, but we still have to hire people for the jobs there, so we’re holding interviews today.” She says back as they grab notepads and stuff them into their bags and my dad’s briefcase. I nod and finish off my water then going back upstairs.

“Hey Kahtea, be ready in five minutes! The principal told me to bring you in at 8 today for a tour and stuff like that.” My mom yells up the stairs. I look at the clock and see that it’s 7:50, so we should probably leave now since it’s a five minute drive, ten minute walk, and we still have to find the office, too.

“Okay, coming!” I yell back down the stairs as I grab my aqua- colored American Apparel backpack and run down the stairs. My mom and I climb into the Ferrari we bought yesterday after turning in the rental Mercedes. We start the car and my mom revs the engine, squealing in joy. What many people don’t know about her is that she absolutely loves sports cars. We speed off towards the school where some people are already there, half an hour early.

We walk into the school as I watch laughing at the guys staring at my mom’s car, their jaw practically hitting the floor. After about three minutes of searching, we find the main office just in time.

“Ah, you must be Kahtea!” a younger- looking woman says as she emerges from behind a door.

“That’s me!” I say kindly to the woman and she smiles and waves me and my mom into the office she just emerged from.

“So, Kahtea, everything seems to be in order, I’ll just get your schedule for you and your locker, and you’ll be set!” she says cheerily and I smile, though I really don’t care. She goes out for a second and returns almost instantly with my schedule and locker assignment, handing it to me and smiling. “I hope you find everything to your liking, and you can come to me if you have any questions or concerns, alright?” she says in a cheery mood.
