"He smoothes my wavy dark brown hair back and stares into my average sized hazel eyes with his dark green eyes. I can tell he is thinking about something because as he is staring into my eyes, he slowly starts to smile and I can't help but to smile at his vampire- sharp teeth. Then he begins to kiss me slowly. I enjoy it for the two minutes that it lasts. When he pulls back, I see pain and sorrow in his sparkling green eyes. Then that's when it hits me, he was really moving back to Hawaii next week. As soon as I realize that, I start crying so hard in his warm purple jacket that is covering his strong hairy arms. His jacket smells of tropical fruits that remind me even more about the fact that he is moving next week."

"Aww." I say, not knowing that I just said that out loud.

"Are you ok, Marissa?" Mrs. Malinda asks me in front of the entire classroom.

I can feel my face burning with embarrassment as the whole class turns to look at me. So quietly I reply with a simple "yes" and put my head back into my book as she continues her lesson on rocks and minerals. Science at an average high school like mine is as interesting as waiting for a turtle to move. I have always hoped and prayed that I will someday find a guy as sweet and caring as the guys in the romance books I read on an everyday basis. As I continue reading, I am startled by the sound of the door slowly creaking open. I can tell that the rest of the class heard it too including Mrs. Malinda because everyone's attention was turned to the door.

When the door opens completely, a guy about two inches taller than me steps through the door with a yellow sticky note in his hand begins to walk to the front of the classroom towards Mrs. Malinda. After she finishes reading the sticky note he handed her, she starts to announce something to the class.

"Class, we have a new student joining us this year. His name is Xavier Martinez. Make him feel welcome. Since he will have to get used to the new schedule, I want someone to show him around for the rest of the week. Any volunteers?"

No one raised their hand

"Marissa, since you need the extra credit anyways, you will be the one to show him the school and make him feel welcome." She said politely

I nodded to tell her that I was fine with doing that.

She assigned him the seat right next to me. He walked down the aisle and set his black and white checkered backpack down on the floor next to his desk.

"Hey, I'm Xavier Martinez." He said smiling with his pointed sparkling white teeth
