His eyes were a light brown that seemed to turn a dark green when the sun hit them. His face was in a handsome shape that wasn't too big and not too small. I was just perfectly right. His skin looked like it was tanned just right under the Californian sun.
"Hi, I'm Marissa Rodriguez." I said shyly closing my book.
"You have the prettiest eyes I have ever seen." He said so sweetly that I thought I was in one of my romance books
"Thanks, and so do you." I said as my face turned as red as the principle's Cadillac.
I tried to hide my red cheeks with my long and wavy dark brown hair that went well with my eyes and my lightly summer tanned skin.
When the dismissal bell rang, Xavier and I went to our lockers to get our stuff for third period which happened to be Gym. We grabbed our grey shirts and navy blue basketball shorts.
When the tardy bell rang, Xavier and I were down stairs in the gym and changed already. When we ran our usual five laps around the entire gym, I seemed like Xavier was done with his laps in literally two minute. It took the rest of us at least eight minutes for a few reasons. Most of the rest of the girls including me were worried about their hair frizzing up or their makeup smearing and the guys were either just weak and slow or staring at the girl's butts. Me, I was of course staring at Xavier looking at me staring at his sweaty muscles and still trying to figure out how he was done so fast. His performance in our game of kickball was even more unbelievable because he never missed the ball whether he was infield or outfield. Now he really had me thinking about him.
At lunch, I normally sit with my best friend Savannah and some other random people, but she moved to Michigan last week. I had been sitting by myself up until now because I look up from opening my water bottle and I see Xavier sitting in the seat next to me. I smile at him when I see him grinning at the fact that he startled me.
"Hey, how are you Marissa?" He asked still grinning.
"Great and you?" I replied happier now that he was here.
"Good. I'm starting to like this school after gym. I'm going to try out for the soccer team next semester and the basketball team this semester. How about you? Do you do anything at this school or are you just one of those pretty girls that are waiting for her prince charming?
"No, I was on the school cheerleading squad with my best friend, Savannah. She would be here but she moved last week so you are really the only friend that I have to talk to and I really don't know whether I'm looking for a prince charming or not yet." I said thoughtfully
"Well you know once you found who you want to be forever because you whole world will turn completely upside down once you meet them." He said like he had practiced that sentence for years
"And how would you know that?" I asked with a hint of sarcasm
" Only because last year at my old school, I thought I had found the girl I wanted to be with for the rest of our lives until she dumped me in front of the entire tenth grade for some other guy with a nice house and a fancy moustache and that guy just so happened to be my best friend." He said with some sadness in his eyes.
I could tell that I had asked one too many questions this time. Yet another situation where my big mouth has ran another guy off. That's probably the only reason that I don't have a boyfriend. But I noticed something different about Xavier; he hadn't taken his tray and walked off.
"Are you ok?" I asked. "I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to go that far into..."
He stopped me with a hug that told me that he forgave me. Now I felt for sure that I was in a romance book where the guy gives the girl a hug and never let's go, but the lunch dismissal bell was my reality check. I think I might be in love with Xavier. I couldn't focus on anything but him all day long for the rest of the day. I'm pretty sure that I fell asleep with a smile on my face.
