When a Snake Loves an Eagle

Chapter 7- Pain

That night at dinner, Harry was being very chatty, whuh was good because Draco didn't feel much like talking. Harry was talking about how good a kisser Cho was. How he was so lucky to have a girlfriend like her. How he was going for a walk with her after dinner.

"So where have you been running off to lately?" Harry asked Draco.

"I had a secret relationship with Hermione that nobody was supposed to know about. We snuck off to see each other at night until ine of her friends saw us kissing. She told the rest of Hermione's friends, they made fun of her for likeing me, and then she dumped me at lunch."

Harry literally laughed out loud. "No, really, where have you been going?"

Draco sighed. "I'm serious, dude."

Harry was silent for a second, like he was waiting for Draco to yell out 'Nah, I'm just messing with you!' but he never did.

"Wait, you're really not joking?"

"No. I'm not," Draco said seriously.

"And I'm actually very upset about this so if you coukd not joke about it..."

Harry put his hand on Draco's back and said, "I'm right here if you want to talk, okay?"

Draco nodded, stood up, and left.

The blonde Slytherin walked to D. A. D. A. class the next day alone and sat at the back of the class.

A few minutes later, Hermione entered the room. Their eyes met for a split second before Draco looked down once more. He pushed back the tears that forced their way into his eyes. His insides felt they were going to explode. A lump in his throat was beginning to form.

The rest of the day went by in a blur.

The only thing Draco noticed was when Hermione passed him, and every time it happened, he felt like he was about to throw up.

A couple of weeks passed and not a single word was spoken between Draco and Hermione. His grades were beginning to slip. She hardly ever spoke anymore. They were both living in misery.
