Chapter 1: The First Day - Part 1

Christian's POV

I am woken up by the sound of my door opening. I check my phone and it shows that it is 1 am. I hear my door close and see my little sister standing in my room holding her bear. 'Come here Isabel' I say sleepily. She walks towards my bed and I move over so there is room for her beside me. She sat down and immediately cuddled into me. As I stroke her hair I notice that there are tears rolling down her face. 'Nightmare?' I ask her. She simply nods her head as I pull her closer to me. Ever since our parents died in a car crash 2 months ago Isabel had been having nightmares. They had stopped a few nights ago but I guess with her starting year 6 tomorrow she was stressing and the nightmares had started up again. 'What if people start bullying me because I no longer have parents?' she asked. I told her 'If they do that you tell your teacher about it and if you want to leave just ask them to call Olena to come pick you up.' She smiles at this and says 'okay' in a small voice. 'Do you want to stay here or go back to your room?' I ask her. 'I will just go back to my room. Night Christian. Sorry for waking you up' 'Okay Isabel. Night sis. It's okay. Remember I am always here for you.' She hops off my bed, walks to the door, opens it then closes it again. I lay back down and the instant my head touches my pillow I fall asleep.

6 1/2 hours later

'Wake up time Sparky. Don't make me come in there.' I groaned as I sat up and checked my phone. When I saw that it was 7:40 he got out of bed slowly. 'Shut up Rose. I am up and awake. Go annoy someone else.' I say yawning. I heard Rose laughing as she walked away. I changed out of my pyjamas into my school uniform which consisted of navy shorts that went to just below my knees and a white cotton shirt with the school emblem. I finished the outfit off with long white cotton socks and white joggers. I ran my fingers through my hair to make it look neater and sprayed myself with deodorant.

I walk out of my room making sure to close the door behind me and head downstairs to the kitchen. The only other people in the kitchen when I got there was Olena and her husband Ivan, Dimitri, Karolina (Dimitri's older sister), Sonya (Dimitri's younger sister) and Viktoria (Dimitri's youngest sister). As I sit down at the table Olena places a plate of 4 pancakes in front of me that are covered in syrup. I smile at her as she does and she smiles back. As I dig into my pancakes I ask 'Where are Isabel, Rose and Lissa?'. Dimitri answers me 'They are all in Isabel's room. Either helping her get ready or just talking to her.' I reply 'Okay'. As I do I see Isabel and Lissa walk into the kitchen closely followed by Rose. Isabel quickly walks around to sit next to me at the table. Olena puts a stake of pancakes in front of her just like the ones that she gave me. Isabel smiles at her and Olena smiles at Isabel as well. Isabel eats quietly which is what she normally does. Everyone else is also very quiet which is kind of awkward. Once Isabel finishes eating I ask her 'Ready for school Izzy?' She replies with a 'Yes. What about you Chris?' I also reply with a 'Yes'. I notice that Isabel's hair is in two braids. 'Who did your hair for you Izzy?' I ask. 'Lissa did my hair for me. I already thanked her Chris, you don't need to remind me to do it.' She says with a smirk.

I ask Olena 'Who is taking who to school?' 'Since I have the van I can drive all of you to school and I will pick you all up from school this afternoon as well.' I was very happy about that because I wanted to see my sister before I went into school and when I got out of school. I walked up the stairs, closely followed by my sister, Dimitri, Sonya, Viktoria, Rose and Lissa. I went into my room, Rose and Lissa followed Isabel into her room and Dimitri, Sonya and Viltoria went into their rooms. I grabbed my toothbrush and tooth paste and went to the bathroom that was for me and Isabel to use. When I walked in I saw that Isabel was already in there cleaning her teeth. I cleaned my teeth quickly, making sure that I had brushed every surface. I rinsed my mouth and went back into my room and put my toothbrush and toothpaste away. I picked up my school bag that I had packed the night before. I put my phone in my bag, my wallet and my headphones. I left my room, closing the door and walked downstairs. I grabbed my lunch and water bottle that was sitting on the bench after Olena had made it and put it in my bag. When Isabel came downstairs I grabbed her lunch and bottle and put it in her bag. I then made sure that she had her phone, wallet, headphones, drawing book and a reading book. She didn't need to worry about taking books for class because the school provides them.

When the others had come downstairs with their bags that had everything that they needed in them we went outside with Olena and got in the van. Isabel sat in the front passenger seat. Lissa, Viktoria and Sonya sat in the very back and Dimitri, Rose and I sat in the seat just behind the driver and front passenger seat. Olena started the van and drove to the high school. When we got there everyone except for Olena got out of the van. Sonya and Viktoria headed straight into the school after they had said goodbye to their mother. When I got out I gave Isabel a nice big hug. I told her that I would text her during my breaks to check on how she was going. She said goodbye to me, Dimitri, Lissa and Rose and we all said goodbye to her. She got back into the van and closed her door. The four of us said goodbye to Olena and she wished us a good day. As they drove off the four of us waved until we couldn't see the van anymore. We then turned around and walked into the school to meet up with the rest of the gang. I hope today was good for the group and especially Isabel.
