After the sudden revelation of the identity of his mother, Naruto walked out of the tower. Despite the heartfelt moment, his heart still felt empty. It wasn't going to be easy to soak it all in.
Even at the age of five, he knew that no matter how much he found out or how hopeful he was, he knew that his parents were never coming back. Ever.
And that truth stung him more than any insult and glares combined. It was a fact he could do nothing about.
'My Mommy and Daddy really are gone' his eyes were already red from earlier started to collect more tears. It truly hurts. Very much.
Naruto tried his hardest to hold back those tears. He was tired of shedding them. He wanted to stop crying. Because crying will not bring them back. His mouth turned into a watery, sad smile. 'But they loved me. That's fine, right?' His young mind wanted to accept that. No more, no less.
But it wasn't that easy. He had so many questions. So very, very many questions. He suddenly found himself in his apartment again. Alone.
He then turned into the kid he was and let it all out. Every single feeling.
Anger.
He kicked the table. The table obvious did not budge. It caused the boy to get even more angry despite his throbbing foot.
Sadness.
He cried out in sadness. He didn't cry but he did scream. The neighbours yelled at him to quiet down but he didn't. He screamed even louder.
Relief.
He stumbled and slipped. Fortunately, he regained his footing and laid on the squeaky bed. His chest felt like it was about to burst out of relief.
Confusion.
He wondered many things. Why did his parents die? Who was his dad? What would have it been like if they had been alive? Would they have been a happy family? Was it his fault? Was it anyone's fault?
And lastly... Happiness.
He slowly drifted into a deep sleep. One with happy dreams. And this one was different. Instead of the ones about the endless supply of ramen. Nor was it the ones he he would meet his parents but their faces were always blurry and too good to be true.
No, it was about his mother. The one he saw in the photo earlier. And she looked very real. With the red hair and violet eyes. But you can see they resemblance in both personality and faces. And he hugged her. The hug felt real too. He noticed in his dream was that a man who looked a lot like him but without the whiskers and had shaggier hair, hugged with them.
The man exuded an air of someone powerful. The coat he was wearing enhanced that aura even more. He knew it was a dream but it felt too real to be one.
And then he heard them say something. It was more of a whisper but he was sure they said something.
"Naruto... We--" and then their mouths were replaced with ringing.
His eyes snapped open. His eyes glanced to the clock that had hardly interrupted him. He glared at it before pushing it off the table.
He got off the bed and rubbed his large, blue eyes. 'What were they gonna say?' It was weird. The dream felt so real. It was like they were really there, hugging him.
He slapped his cheeks softly. 'No... It was just a dream. No biggie' he did his morning routine and made breakfast.
It was ramen, like always. But he felt like he didn't have the appetite for it. Which was weird since he always had room for ramen. He sullenly placed the half eaten ramen in the sink and put on his shoes. The Academy was going to start soon.
