Prologue*~*
Lauren's P.O.V~
"Lauren wake up, were here," my mom whispered before reaching down and grabbing a lemonade bottle from the floor.
"No"
"Lauren you gotta get up now"
"No" I huffed.
Making her way down the driveway she turned around saying,"Yes now get up your grandparents want to see you, and make sure to get you and your dog inside its dark out and i don't want you both to get eaten by a bear,"
"FINE" I squealed slowly leaning up and adjusting my eyes around me.
As my mom wobbled down the stone path I looked down at my hip noticing a small bundle of white sleeping peacefully. Poor thing..
"Aww baby you got to get up!" I whispered. Reaching down I poked her a little trying to wake her up. I looked at the time on the van; 10:32...oh well. Might as well just sleep here for a while. Sniffing the musky humid air i closed my eyes.
*3 Hours Later*
My eyes started fluttering open. Once I could focus I looked around noticing it was still dark out. Well I should start getting up. The car is not the comfiest place.
Being in Wisconsin in the middle of the night surrounded by some old homes and a lot of trees wasn't always comforting, But this place was where I grew up most of my life, so it had a remarkable homey feel to it.
Turning around to see if any of my belongings fell behind me, I felt a vibration on my lap, causing me to jolt upwards. I looked down at the screen and noticed I got a text from my boyfriend. I smirked as I picked up the phone. We've been together for a year now and I've never been happier. I'm so lucky I was able to get him. Although he's not my mate, we stay loyal. We both are going slow, in case we end up finding our mates, but I can definitely find a future with him. He's exactly what your parents want, and that's mainly the reason he's still here. Jc has shaggy dirty blonde hair that's always in a quiff. Green eyes that will suck you in and a huge heart. I guess you could say it's a friends with benefits relationship, but we make it work.
The text, like usual read,
'Hey baby, miss you, sweet dreams my love xxx :))'
•flashback 5 months•
Walking down the crowded hallway to 5th period, I felt large hands wrap around my waist. A warm breath went down my neck causing me to shiver.
"Hey baby," Jc mumbled as he kissed my ear. I smirked and spun around in his arms putting my hands up as a barricade.
"Where have you been all day," I questioned as I fixed his black lacrosse sweatshirt. "I asked Monica where you guys all were, but she had no clue."
He looked down at my height of 5'7 and smiled. Without saying a word he pulled out 4 tickets to see Imagine Dragons.
"ARE YOU SERIOUS?! STOP IT, JC." I immediately tackled him in a bear hug. Sweet Jesus, I love this boy.
•end of flashback•
Oh how I miss him.
I responded back quickly with a,
'Goodnight Jc. call you tomorrow okay?'
Slowly I pressed the window button and the window rolled down with a small creek. I held my nose up and sniffed around the area, you always need to be careful.
My mind wanted me to go inside and get relaxed and lay in a comfy bed, but my body just wouldn't allow it. You dont know what I would do to have a cup of tea and lay in the air conditioned room upstairs.
After a while of staring out the window, I finally pushed myself to get out of the car and inside. I collected my dog and started heading towards the house. My grandparents home was pretty decent sized and was red and white. Seeing it brought back a lot of memories. I could hear the lake behind the house crashing against the shore. I can't wait to go swimming tomorrow. Flipping back all the loose dirty blonde hair that snuck out of my hair tie; I made my way down the pathway.
I trudged down the stone path and made my way into the house. Ah, I could tell grandmother made her spaghetti sauce, as the smell was very pungent.
I gently let my dog down, the white fur was matted down from her slumber. her make her way towards the backdoor. My eyes could barely stay open and all I wanted to do was go to bed. The house was completely dark sense it was really late, so I had to be careful where I was going.
Walking through the yellow entry way, I stepped into the kitchen and sat down at the table. The marble countertops relaxed me, sending flashbacks of little me sitting and eating on top of the countertop. Oh how I missed this-""What are you doing up so late?!"
The scowling voice of my grandmother filled my ears. How did I not hear her with my senses? I must be pretty exhausted..."Sorry," I hissed back, "I just kinda fell asleep in the car?" Standing up, I walked over to her and grabbed a bottle of water from the fridge. I leaned against the wood island as she continued talking.
She sighed, "well go to bed sweetheart we have a big day tomorrow so get up early." I softly nodded as I dozed off.
" Goodnight darling, it's wonderful to see you finally." Grandma solemnly said, before slowly cupping my cheek. The adoring look in her eyes told me we've been gone for too long...
Grabbing my phone, I made my way through the living room, and up the stairs. With ever so quiet steps, I found the cream door. Entering my pink room that I shared with my sister, I collapsed on the bed, tightly shutting my eyes. Oh boy, let the adventures begin.
