The birds outside whistled softly as the morning emerged. The trees rustled against each other and the leaves kissed. Thomas was awakened by a woodpecker furiously ripping a tree to pieces. The sight outside was beautiful. Thomas quickly hopped out of his bed and skipped to his parents bedroom. He saw that they were both still asleep so he decided to jump on their bed. As most children his age do. He was only eight years old but he was a genius. You could ask him any question and he would reply within seconds. He was like a young Einstein. "What is 8 multiplied by 11 plus 10 multiplied by 4 and divided by two?" His father would ask. His reply... "Well 8 times 11 is 88. 88 plus 10 is 98. 98 multiplied by 4 is 384, and 384 divided by 2 is 192." He was extremely good at maths. Finally his parents woke up and they felt refreshed. They said softly "Thomas dear your father and I need to talk, could you let us be for a moment please?" Thomas left them to talk and walked around the house. He ran to his bedroom and heard a huge thump on the ceiling. He thought nothing of it and calmly started to play with his toys. He heard it again and started to panic. He yelled "DADDY!" His father heard his scream and hurriedly sprinted to his sons room. He told his father about the bang and he knew what it was. He couldn't tell his son, it would scare him half to death. He soothingly said to Thomas "Don't worry son, you will get used to it. It's just the birds landing on the roof." Thomas, who was now quite calm, decided he would go downstairs to watch television.
