How could a heart like yours

Ever love a heart like mine?

Williamette Stone

Harry took a step out of the door, his legs shaky, whole body hurting. The previous night has been bad. He sniffled softly, rubbing his lightly red and swollen eyes, the green bright color in them long gone and changed to a dull one mimicking the rainy weather in London, before he braced himself up and walked down the street, rain pouring down on him, wetting his clothes but he didn't care.

He could barely feel the harsh wind against his skin.

He shoved his hands in his pockets, his feet kicking a stone on his way off the pavement and onto the street. He stood there for a while, watching the little rock till a car came and drove over it. Harry hasn't always been like this. He had friends, he had his family, he was such a bright, giggly, funny person with his curls bouncing and his eyes sparkling until he met Will.

He influenced him, turned him cruelly to the person he is now and dragged him down to a place he can't escape. He's stuck there with him, has no one who could help him to get out because he pushed everyone away. Will made him believe that he doesn't deserve anything, that he can see himself very happy that Harry has him left.

As he made his way further down the street he ran a hand through his thick curly hair, liking the way it curled in his neck, sometimes tickling him. He didn't mean for it to grow so long but Will said he looked pathetic with short hair so he grew used to wear it long. That's how things went. Will demanded, Harry obeyed.

Louis Tomlinson was a dreamer. He craved the moment he stepped into the book shop he worked in, he craved the scent of old and new books filling up his senses. He loved to read, he loved to dive into an always changing world, he loved to read letters that got mixed together differently each time. Isn't it crazy that we only have 26 letters that we can mix together creating every word we know? All these books exist out of 26 letters.. It left a smile on his face as he walked in there, even increased at the smell of books.

''Hey there, Em'' He called softly, his light voice turning up as his blue eyes met her dark ones. She has been his co worker for a year now and she's been very nice to Louis, from the beginning on.

''Hi Lou'' She grins at him before she goes back, storing new books that arrived, in the shelves.

''I just finished 'The Shining' .. fucking scary, if I might say so.'' Louis shuddered.

He spent his weekend with a fluffy blanket, a warm mug of tea and the so called book The Shining from Stephen King in his hands, on his bed. He sometimes changed his tea to warm chocolate with marshmallows, but that's been it, mostly. Not that Louis didn't have friends, no, he has quite a lot of them, goes out often and spends funny evenings with them but he needs this alone time sometimes. Shutting himself up and just burying his nose deeply in his new book..

''Don't tell me you read all of it during the weekend?'' Her laugh chirped through the still empty book shop (not a lot of people come here when it's raining cats and dogs) causing Louis' cheeks to flush.

''um.. maybe'' Louis spoke quietly before throwing a worn out book at her, chuckling quietly.

''Ops'' A smirk crawled up on his lips before the bell of the shop went, causing Louis head to turn to the entrance. And what he saw there, took his breath away.

Big green eyes that had the depth of a dark forest, pale skin with a strong jawline, long brown curls framing his face so beautifully that it made his eyes bulge out. He let them travel over his plain white shirt though, marveling softly at the pair of skinny jeans he was wearing along with a pair of brown boots. He was gorgeous. And dripping wet.

''Hello..'' The tall man spoke quietly, raspy and so lowly Louis creased his eyebrows for a second before a shudder went through his whole body.

He has always been a romantic. Believed in love at first sight. And here he was. Completely knocked off his feet. But he cleared his throat softly, Em disappearing with a soft smile on her lips. She always did this, when a strangely beautiful man came in here.

Yes, she knew Louis was gay. And she honestly just wanted to give Louis the chance to meet someone nice who's as much in love with books as he is. Who could love Louis as much as Louis loved books.

''Hey!'' Louis voice was way too high.

''I'm Louis'' He smiled, a warm hearting smile that went right to Harry's dull eyes. He was freezing.

''Could I um.. Could I just stay in here till the rain stops? I don't have anything with me..'' He felt like a kicked puppy that no one wanted. It was pathetic, really.

''I-I can go again, um, since I'm not buying something..'' He didn't take money with him. He just wanted to clear his head. Louis teeth quickly sunk down on his lower lip. How could he be so cute?

''Of course'' He replied gently and nodded his head quickly.

''we have a reading corner, upstairs, if you do want to sit down. Maybe you'd like to read something?'' Louis entwined his hands in front of him rocking back and forth on his heels. Harry just slowly nodded his head. He wanted to be alone.

''Thank you'' He swallowed, his long legs carrying him upstairs to the reading area. He took his jacket out, shivering a bit but at least his shirt did not get wet. He ran a hand through his dripping hair and looked around, enjoying the silence. He's used to silence. Or to yelling. Two extremes. He let out a soft sigh, taking his shoes off to hopefully let his socks dry and walked to the nearest shelf, his green eyes scanning curiously over the variety of book covers, titles and their colors. He ran his fingertips curiously over them, liking the feel of them against his own sensitive skin. He's never really had a book in his hands before..

''Oh, there are my favorite books!'' Harry flinched hard, clutching onto his shirt and turned around, his nostrils flaring and his eyes round and big as he met Louis'. He just stared at him dumbfounded before Louis quickly blinked and blushed again

''I'm sorry I didn't mean to scare you'', he laughed and held onto his tray again.

''I made you tea! You look like you could have something that will warm you up..It's my favorite.'' He smiled and placed the tray down on the small table next to what was supposed to be Harry's seat and walked up to the taller man, eyes following his.

''I recently finished this..'' he mumbled and reached straight out for ''The Shining''. Louis knew exactly where every book in here is.

''It is very scary but amazingly written. Stephen King is the master of horror.'' He giggled before holding it up, pushing it literally in Harry's face.

''If you're a fan of horror, that is'' Louis chewed on his lip.

''I- um .. I never have been in a book shop before'' Harry spoke quietly again as if he's worried that he'd do something wrong. Louis eyes widened.

''What?'' He almost squeaked, causing Harry to take an unintentional step back.

''Sorry, I just love books. Okay.. um a beginner. You gotta read Harry Potter'' the smaller boy rushed out leaving Harry confused and.. what? Harry didn't know how he felt about all this. He slowly made his way back to his seat, not wanting to stand around somewhere he shouldn't be and watched Louis hurry around until he came back with a very thick book. Harry looked up at him and swallowed softly as Louis reached the book over to him along with a blanket.

''You haven't told me your name, yet'' the petite boy says out softly, entwining his hands slowly.

Harry never really told people his name. He didn't even talk to anyone if he didn't need to. He learned to stay quiet. He just thought nobody is really that interested in him.

He looked down at the book in his big hands, a soft smile settling on his lips as he read the title in his mind

''I'm Harry..''
