They looked up and saw it. It was a dark figure standing there, just looking at them. He looked more like a shadow. The figure shot another arrow at them. They ducked down as it flew over their heads. They looked behind them. An arrow in flames was stuck into a tree along with the tomahawk that was strucked viciously into the tree.

The figure grabbed another arrow and was about to shoot it at them. They covered their heads and bodies. They waited for the hit but it didn't come. They looked up, all they could see was this bright light going around them. Hitting the dark figure, the figure growled and Eric and Kate watched as the figure stood still, smirking before vanishing into the light.

Once the figure was gone, the light went out, the arrow that the figure was about to throw was laying on the ground, the flame still burning.

They looked around in confusion, still hugging eachother tightly in fear.

"What the-" Eric stuttered.

"What was that?" Kate asked, unwrapping her arms from around Eric.

"I think that was him." He said, not looking at Kate.

"Who?"

He looked at her. "I think that's the thing that killed my Mom and Ben."

She looked at him in confusion. "Why do you think that?"

"I have this weird feeling."

"That things afraid of light."

It was Eric's turn to be confused. "What?"

"Did you see the way that thing acted when that light hit it?" She said, Eric nodded. "It was scared."

"Where did that light come from anyway?" Eric asked.

"I don't know." She paused as she thought for a moment. Eric had his hand raised in front of them when they where huddled into a ball on the ground. That hand he used as if to tell the figure to back off. She had a thought. "Eric, show me your hands."

He was confused. "What?"

"Just do it." She said. Eric put his palms up in front of her. She examined his hands, noticing something. "How long have these been there?" She asked.

"What?"

She rubbed a thumb over a scar that was shaped like a star. His other hand had a scar the shape of the waning cresent moon on it.

"What are those?" He asked in shock.

"I was about to ask you the same thing."

He shook his head. "These weren't here an hour ago."

"We really need to do some research." She suggested.

He nodded his head in agreement.

"Just until then, don't show anyone except the group. Got it?" She asked.

"Got it." He said and gripped tight onto his crutches and started hopping away.

"Eric." Kate called out. Eric stopped and stumbled a bit before he turned around. "Be careful."

He smiled and nodded before hopping away into the night.

"Guys! Guys!" Kate called out to her friends who where standing near the entrance of the school the next morning before school started. Students slowly starting to show up. She ran up to them, breathless. Isaac left before her that morning because she was up late and was bandaging a few cuts and bruises the night before. She woke up 10 minutes late. Isaac was already to head to school and Kate said she would meet him there. When she stepped into the bathroom, she checked the bandage that was on her arm. She scrapped it up really good last night. She took the bandage off. The bleeding had stopped and the wounds where turning into small scars. She put on a new bandage before running out the door and headed to school.
