----------I had put down my fork with a sigh, "What's wrong, Stiles?"
He shook his head, eyes going wide as if I had accused him of the murder, "What? Who, me? No, nothing's wrong with me."
I gave him a disbelieving look, and he muttered certain profanities under his breath.
"I'm worried about you, Riley. Ever since your thing with Isaac ended, you've been different."I felt an immediate pang of remorse in my heart at the thought of the boy with the curls.
"Stiles, it's not just that," I said truthfully. "Scott is a werewolf, another werewolf is trying to kill him, random people are being murdered, and Scott's girlfriend's whole family are werewolf hunters; I think a break up is a little low on the priority list right now.""Why did you break up with him?"
I took a deep breath, picking my fork back up and sticking it into my breakfast. "You don't have to answer, I just-""No," I cut him off. "No, it's fine. He was keeping something from me, and it was pulling us apart. I wanted to break things off so that neither of us could get any more attached. That way, it hurts less."
Silence blanketed the kitchen as we finished our breakfast. Stiles took our plates to the sink, before suggesting we went to school. I nodded stiffly, walking out the front of my house. I thanked him for breakfast, then we went to our separate cars.
"Do you just wanna ride with me?" Stiles offered, running a hand over his head. "I mean, I'm here, and I don't mind dropping you home."
I didn't want to make him drive me around, but I didn't want him to think that things were awkward now that we had spoken about Isaac, so I accepted his offer.
Talking to Stiles about Isaac made me feel relieved, yet sick at the same time. I knew I needed to tell someone eventually, but that didn't mean I enjoyed doing it.
We arrived at school at basically the same time the bell went, rushing alongside each other so that we wouldn't be late. We made it just in time for our first class of the day; chemistry with Mr Harris.
Just the thought of chemistry made my head spin. I took a sip from my travel mug that was filled to the brim with coffee.
It was too early in the morning for that much thinking.Just as I was about to take another sip, the mug disappeared from my hands. I looked up, to be welcomed with the disappointed face of Adrian Harris.
"There is no drinking in my classroom, Miss Winters.""If there was, I would be drinking something much stronger than coffee, trust me," I muttered.
Harris narrowed his eyes, before turning to the rest of the class. "Just a friendly reminder, parent/teacher conferences are tonight. Students below a 'C' average are required to attend." He began to walk down the aisle between the lab benches.
Stiles, who was sitting beside me, whispered in my ear, asking if I knew where Scott was. I just shrugged in reply, before turning back to Harris, so that he wouldn't have another reason to be pissed at me.
"I won't name you, because the shame and self-disgust should be more than enough punishment." Harris stopped once more beside our lab bench, looking down at Stiles, who had begun to highlight his lab book, lid in mouth. And by highlight, I meant colour in the entire page.
"Has anyone seen Scott McCall?"
