It was a dark and gloomy Sunday morning. I woke up and looked at the time. It was already 7 which means I am suppose to be getting ready to go to church but for some reason I did not feel like going. I decided to take a day off and went to bathe.

I have a habit of looking at myself in the mirror before bathing and that's the same thing I did today as well. When I looked at myself in the mirror, I noticed a small scar on my arm which had the shape of a lightning bolt. I didn't care much about the scar, took a bath and went downstairs to the kitchen for breakfast.

Suprisingly, mom wasn't there. That's odd. She would never miss breakfast especially on a Sunday. "Dad, where's mom?" I asked cluelessly. To my suprise, even dad didn't know where mom went so I had my pancakes, a cup of tea and went outside to play.

Since I'm the only child, I play with the kids in my neighbourhood. I went outside and saw two of my friends, Samantha and Merida. They moved into our neighbourhood just a few weeks ago. I was the first one to greet them of course and we were best friends from that day on.

"Hey! What are you looking at?" I Merida as she was staring at the forest which was behind our houses. That forest has been there even before the houses in that area were built. Some neighbours have made requests for the past few months to destroy the forest as they think it is dangerous to have a forest in a living area as there might be wild animals coming out at night but all those who came to clear the forest would get lost in there and never returned. The police have investigated on this matter but did not get a clue on where the people went.

"Do you see them? They look so scared and lonely." Merida said. As soon as I heard this I started getting goosebumps all over. I approached Merida and asked "Who are you referring to? There's no one there. Nobody would be daring enough to enter that forest." "Spirits floating around the trees. They look as if they are trapped." said Merida in a sad tone. I did not take her statement seriously but noticed that Samantha was missing.
