This update, I want to actually do something a little different. Instead of just posting one phrase, I want to get more off my chest.

I am a girl. This simple statement is tied to so many stereotypes. By letting people know my gender, they begin to assume things about me. It's gotten so bad that even my computer shows me ads that they think will affect me simply because I am a girl.

Let's clear some things up. Yes, I am a girl, but that doesn't mean I like putting dresses on and wearing makeup. And I'm not saying that getting all dressed up is a bad thing, I'm just saying that it's unfair to assume all girls like that simply based on their gender.

Yes, I am a girl, but that doesn't mean I'm not just as good, if not better, at sports than guys. I'm very athletic and enjoy playing multiple sports, some at some very high levels, and yet when someone needs something heavy moved, they'll look past me to some guys to do it, simply because I'm a girl.

Stereotypes need to stop. Judging people based on their gender, race, or even their sexuality needs to stop.

I think that the Internet is such a cool way to overcome these stereotypes because online you interact with people from all over the world without really caring about what they look like, where they're from, or who they love.

I am a girl, and I am tired of being defined by my gender.
