Chapter 1

I ran through the forest, my paws hitting the soft leaves that scattered over the ground. I could hear the rabbit scattering through the forest floor. I made a lunge, clamping my jaw around the rabbit's body. I bit slowly, taking complete pleasure at killing this small creature.

Rylan the alpha wants to see you. My best friend Jason said through the mind link, he was next in line to be beta; his father was the current beta who was second in command to my father, Alpha Dax, one of the most feared alphas in the world.

What does he want? I replied to Jason.

I don't know but he looks mad.

I rolled my eyes, he was always mad at the world. Okay tell him I'm on my way.

I finished off my meal and began to run back through the forest to the pack house. I shifted behind a tree, grabbing my shorts and hoodie which I had left neatly in a pile. I pulled them on and walked up to the front door, I opened it and made my way to my dad's office.

I pulled open the door without knocking and walked in.

"Hey dad what's up?" I said sitting on the chair and swinging my legs onto the arm rest.

"Rylan, put your feet on the floor."

I swung my legs down so that my feet were touching the floor, looking directly at my father.

"Okay, now that's sorted we can get to business, your mother and I have decided that we will be taking you and Jason to visit another pack which we are doing business with, it will give you both a chance to see how things are run, your brother came on the last trip with us, so he is staying with beta Jameson, to help run this pack for a week or so."

"Okay." I said effortlessly. My father looked shocked at my reaction. "When do we leave?"

"Tomorrow at 12, pack enough for 2 weeks and make sure that you have all your stuff downstairs by 11 understand."

"Yes sir," I said doing a mock salute.

My father let out a laugh; it was the first sign of emotion that I had seen him show all week.

I walked out the office and made my way up to my room. I threw myself onto the bed and turned on Netflix. I decided to mind link Jason.

Oi, dickhead, is you busy?

Sort of, is something wrong are you in trouble.

Nope, just wondering if your dad told you that were leaving tomorrow?

Yeah the alpha told me last night.

Do you wanna come over for Netflix?

Rylan, I found my mate, she's a rogue.....

No need to carry on; go have fun, stay safe. I chuckled to myself, Jason had been waiting for his mate for a year now, I'm so happy he has found her. I pulled my covers around me and quickly fell asleep.

I woke up the next morning to the sound of someone banging on my door.

"What!" I yelled, pissed from being woken up.

"Rylan, you have an hour to get ready, I know you to well and I know that right now you're lying in bed not even packed." Jason yelled through the door.

Shit. I jumped out of bed and swung the door open. "Help me." I begged him.

"Already there, go make yourself look pretty." He said smirking.

I threw my pillow at him, I walked over to my en suite and slipped out of my clothes. Jumping in the shower I washed my hair and body, and then jumped out drying myself with a towel. I pulled on my ripped jeans, and my red off the sleeve top. I came out the bathroom to see that Jason had got all the clothes I needed out including my underwear and had put it into a large duffel bag,

"Love you Jase."

"I've packed your jeans, jogging bottoms, some hoodies, multiple T-shirts and your 2 other pairs of combat boots, I've also packed a dress."

"A dress" I said slowly, everyone knew I hated dresses.

"Yes, there's a dinner which you have to look good for."

"But you of all people know I hate dresses,"

"Your dad said it was a good idea..."

"Stuff him, he doesn't even know me."

"I'm not having this argument Rylan; put all your shampoo and girl stuff in and then we can go."

I stuck my tongue out at him, plugging in my hair dryer and drying my hair. Whilst I was doing this I threw, my straighteners, and other stuff at Jason so that he could put it into my bag. I did my eye liner, so that my eyes popped and pulled a beanie onto my head over my blonde hair. Doing up my combat boots, I heard Jason grown.

"What's up?"

"Dad wants me to get my stuff out of the house."

"As always, I'll meet you in the car?"

He nodded as he opened the door and left my room. I pulled on my old bomber jacket and threw my duffel bag over my shoulder. I met my dad at the car and climbed into the back seat; soon enough Jason threw his stuff in the boot and jumped in next to me. I plugged my headphones into my phone as my dad pulled out of the pack grounds and onto the road, I hoped that this trip would be worthwhile.
