Amberpaw awoke with a start. She panted in her nest. Spottedpaw was looking at her with a weird look. What's she looking at? Amberpaw got up and started to leave the den. Graylight came out of the warriors den talking to Creamfur. Graylight's tail rose when he saw Spottedpaw coming out of the apprentices den.
All three of the new apprentices are already out hunting I think. Graylight ran toward Spottedpaw. "H hey, Spottedpaw. Want to go hunting? I'll come along with your mentor." Spottedpaw purred and nodded. They both padded away finding Spottedpaw's mentor.
The days were getting a little cold. Sometimes there would be cold wind hitting Amberpaw's face. Amberpaw padded over to Swiftleaf. "Hey, need any help?" Amberpaw said as she tilted her head. Swiftleaf nodded. "I need your help in the nursery, Shrewpaw is a little busy at the moment. Can you clean out the old bedding and replace it?"
Amberpaw nodded excitedly. At least I got something to do. Amberpaw padded into the nursery. As she walked in, milky scents washed over her face. Amberpaw gathered all the old moss in a pile and picked it up and threw it out. She padded out of the nursery and ran into the moorland. She could smell some moss lying around somewhere.
She padded by the big lake on the border. Some moss was lying there by the lake. She scooped up the moss and carried it on her mouth. She created a pile of it on the grass. She clawed up more and more moss. She sniffed the air and smelled a familiar smell.
I smell a kittypet! Ugh! I better go tell it to leave. She padded toward the smell. Before she knew it Smokey padded out of a bush. "Amber! I finally found you!" Smokey exclaimed. Amberpaw's fur bristled angerly thinking about what happened in the past.
"What do you want!?" Amberpaw hissed. He jumped back by her hostility. "I I just came to apologize. I'm sorry I said those things to you. I really didn't mean them. I I guess that I was just caught in a trance or something."
Amberpaw didn't buy it. "Look! I don't need you making things worse! I already met my real parents! In which I'm enimes with! I don't need you here to make things worse!"
Smokey looked down at his paws. "Oh, I understand.. but please.. come back.. I'm so lonely without you here."Amberpaw curled her lip in discust. "I thought you were living with that other black and white she cat?! Huh!" Smokey turned his head away. "I know.. she threw me out.. she hates me now.. please come back." His words made Amberpaw feel even madder.
"So am I your last crutch or something?! When she throws you out you come crawling back to me?! Really?! I'm never going back to the likes of you!" Her words pierced his heart. Her fur still bristling. Smokey's eyes started bubbling with tears. His tear glazed eyes still looking at her.
I don't care if that snake heart cries. Amberpaw looked at him with such hostility. "Now if I may leave now! I have things to do." Amberpaw turned and picked up the moss and padded back. She left without a goodbye. As she walked into the distance, with hostility streaming in her veins.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Once Amberpaw made it back to camp. She laid out the moss on the nursery floor. Graylight and Spottedpaw arrived back with prey in their mouths. They were giggling and walking together. Spottedpaw placed her prey in the pile and so did Graylight. Amberpaw stared at them with hurt.
Ravenstar looked at the way Amberpaw looked at him. Amberpaw's eyes narrowed. She turned back and picked out some fresh kill. Graylight barely notices me anymore.. what happened to us? She flattened her ears and went back to eating.
