The Denial

                                              I walked up to him 
And shook my head
I slowly kissed him
Stopped as we moved ahead
                          And asked him then
If he could let go
And asked him when
I became this easy to let go
                          He fumbled then
Tried to find words
Ended up with ten
And those were words!

                          "I won't leave you.
I tried.
But God! I love you."
He sighed
                          And then began the denial
We were lost again
But we were in denial
Finally free from the pain.
