Jasons POV:

I looked into Cats deep brown eyes. She was gorgeous. She slowly edged closer, her mouth only centimetres away from mine. My heart was racing and even being close to her lit my skin with sparks. I could smell a smokey tinge on her breath. Just as our lips were about to collide, a teacher burst into the bleachers.

"Hey you two! We don't permit smoking in school! This will get you suspended!" He yelled.

I swore, and grabbed Cat, and we ran for it. Cat was laughing as we raced round the corner of the school, and I whooped loudly as we quickly jumped into Cats car and she stepped on it. We left the teacher breathless and angry in the carpark.

Cat opened up the roof of the car and was laughing and panting, out of breath. My heart quickly returned to its original speed, and I turned on the radio loud as Never Forget you by MNEK came on.

And I will never forget you,
You will always be by my side,
From the day that I met you,
I knew that I would love you till the day I died,
And I will never want much more,
Cos in my heart, I will always be sure,
That I will never forget you,
And you will always be by my side,

Till the day I die....

As the beat dropped, Cat floored the pedal and we were racing down the streets of America, the sun pounding on our backs, the wind rushing through our hair.

I looked across to see Cat, her hair flowing behind her head like a chocolate halo, rippling in the wind, her slim arms waving in the air and her voice singing along. My heart was racing, and every time I looked at her my mind blanked and all I could think of was her beauty.

She began to slow down and we got out when the car came to a stop.

"Hey Silver, wanna grab some food?" She said.

"Yeah sure."

We were in a shabby neighbourhood, with boarded up windows and a couple of takeout restaurants littered around. I instantly stepped closer to Cat. It was gonna get dark soon, and it could get rough.

I dragged her into the nearest restaurant. It was quite full, and we headed to a table covered in an old tablecloth.

Cat was already eyeing up the menu, and we ordered.
"Can I have a sandwich and chips?" She said unconsciously as an old waiter shuffled up to our table.

He looked confused.
"Chips? Eh?"

Cat flushed dark pink. "I mean fries."

I struggled to hold back a laugh that was bubbling up inside of me.
"I'll have the same as the lady."

He nodded and went back to his kitchen to give the chefs our orders.

"So, Vinski, tell me something about you I don't know." I asked.

She paused. "Well I am a black belt in judo."

I sucked in a breath.
"Remind me never to fight you."

She laughed. My heart swelled with pride. I made her laugh.

"Now you."

I thought for a while.
"My dad died when I was fourteen."

She gasped in shock.

"Oh my God, I'm so sorry."

"Its okay. It was a long time ago, so it hurts less every day. " I said bravely, ignoring the ache of loneliness in my chest.

After my fathers death my whole family fell apart.
My mum buried her sorrows in drinking, and my little sister began to be bullied in school. She was eleven.

I taught the bullies never to touch her again, and I kept trying to help my mum out of her addiction so we wouldn't be taken away from her, but it never worked. My dads death had taken its toll on everyone.

Suddenly a loud crash snapped me out my thoughts.

The large window at the front of the restaurant exploded into shimmering sheets of glass as a bullet richoted through it, and flew into the room narrowly missing a waiter and embedding itself in a wall.

Cat screamed and I instantly got up and pulled her out of her seat as two men ran in with guns.

"Cat! We need to get out of here!" I yelled and grabbed her hand and pulled her through the door into the kitchen. "EVERYONE GET OUT AS FAST AS YOU CAN!" I screamed to the kitchen staff and soon they were all yelling and running for the back exit. My heart racing, I pulled her behind me as one of the armed men burst into the kitchen.

I grabbed a pan and lobbed it at him. It hit him in the arm and he dropped the gun. Immediately Cat advanced with a flying kick to his head. He dropped like a stone to the ground and she immediately kicked away the gun. She turned back scared, as she walked towards me.

Then I saw him beginning  to crawl for Cat slowly, a knife in his hand, his fury evident in his eyes; anger bubbled up inside of me.
"DONT TOUCH HER!" I screamed and flung two pans at him, knocking him unconscious.

3 hours later...

We had escaped just before the police had arrived. Cat had pulled me into her car and we had driven to my house where she was going to stay overnight. My mum was off in a club drinking her life away, and my sister was staying at my grandparents.

The door shut behind us and Cat slid down in front of it until she was crouching on the floor.

I sat down heavily next to her.

"Well that was a adventure and a half." She said breathlessly. I nodded in agreement. My body was still buzzing with adrenaline from the restaurant. I stood up and offered her a hand.
"Text your parents. Its too late to drive back. Just say your staying over at a new friends house. " I said.

"Its school tomorrow." She replied.
"Well you can borrow some of my mums clothes, she will be about your size. " I said after a moments thought.

She nodded reluctantly and pulled herself up using my hand.

She walked across the room, evidently exhausted, and sat down heavily on the couch.

I sat next to her and we turned on the TV in front of us.
"What do you want to watch?" I said , turning to look at her.
"Ummmmm, how about horror?" She said with a smirk.
Happiness bubbled up inside of me.
"That's my girl."

We had just settled for Woman in Black 2, (Some British horror film Cat said was the bomb AF) when my stomach rumbled really loudly.

I pulled out my phone.
"Hey Cat, wanna order pizza? We never did get to eat that sandwich."
She nodded.
"Can I get extra spicy pepperoni?" She asked. I nodded.

Ring ring. Ring ring.
"Hi, can I order two large extra spicy pepperoni pizzas with extra cheese, some garlic bread, a medium doughball tray and two cokes?" I asked.

Cat giggled next to me, sending a warm smile to my face.

"Thanks." I said and put down the phone.

"Well you sure are one hungry lad aren't you." She said through her chuckles, and rested her head on my shoulder and pressed play on the movie.

My heart was thumping at the speed of lightning.

Suddenly a face jumped out on the screen and me and Cat screamed and jumped and Cat jumped onto me, basically sitting on my lap.

I pulled a blanket over us, and she snuggled into my warmth. I wished we could stay like this forever.

The doorbell rang making me and Cat jump.
"I'll get it." She said. I could hear the disappointment in her voice.
Did she? No...

She came back loaded with pizza and I paused the movie and got plates and cups. She sat next to me and leant against me and we played the movie again.

A face jumped out at us and Cat screamed, shaking. I pulled my arms around her, pulling her towards my chest. She instantly relaxed at my touch.

She had her warm body against mine and soon we were drifting off to sleep, warm, full, and at peace in each others arms.
