Elijah chewed his lasagna like a cow.

"Elijah stop chewing so loudly!" His mother snapped, before sending him a pointed glare.

"Sorry." He grumbled.

She raises her eyebrows.

His dad rolls his eyes.

Talk about awkward.

"I don't like your stupid lasagna, I don't even like lasagna." He mutters.

"Excuse me?" She shrieks. "Don't talk back to me!"

I finish her disgusting dinner before getting up at lightening speed.

"Thank you for the lovely dinner Mrs.Winters I'm just going to leave now-"

"No!" He cried before recomposing himself. "Uh- I mean, you don't have to leave yet because once again my parents think they know what's best for me."

"I think you'll find that we do know what's best for you. Who's raised you all these years?"

"Valerie's parents!"

Silence fell across the room.

Awkward.

Someone talk.

Seriously, please.

This silence is painful.

"She's turned into a bad influence on you!" His mum accused, pointing at him.

*Coughs* I am still here you know.

As if voicing my thoughts, Elijah stood up. "How dare you speak about Valerie like that!"

"I should really leave right now..."  I mumble, quickly pushing past Elijah.

He throws his hands up in the air in frustration.

"Wait!" He orders, grasping my elbow. He motioned to upstairs.

I nod, realising what he meant.

The window.

I nod in realisation and give him a sad smile, before closing their door behind me.

"See? You didn't even let her out politely!" I heard her screech from the inside.

I could picture him shaking his head.

By the time I had lied to my parents about why I was home early, I ran up to my room. I heard a door slam across from my window.

"Yo." I greeted him.

"Hey." He smiled, looking less stressed.

"So..."

"Wanna come in?" Elijah offered, gesturing to the tree inbetween our houses.

"Sure, give me a moment. " I ran downstairs and exited my house before running towards the tree and pulling myself up on the lowest branch.

I climb the tree pretty easily, but my tights snag on the bark as I pull myself up.

Elijah cheered like a football maniac when i pul l myself through her window.

"Shut up." I grumbled, throwing myself down on his bed.

He smirked, walking towards me.

"Damn Elijah try and keep it in your pants." I laughed.

He rolls his eyes. "Get your rape whistle."

"Wow, someones watched too much Pitch Perfect."

"N-no!"

"Mmmhmm."
